Dating A Younger Man: How Young is Too Young?

Pop star Brooke Hogan's mom is dating a 19-year-old -- is that too young?

Lately on (and off) screen, there's been an emerging trend -- older women, aka cougars, in relationships with much younger men. "Sex and the City," "Desperate Housewives," Halle Berry and baby daddy Gabriel Aubry, Demi and Ashton are all examples of this phenomenon. But what's behind its popularity? Women are more financially independent, they want to have fun, they are more powerful than ever before and they are in their sexual prime at 40, says licensed marriage and family therapist Shannon Fox. Now, women want the same thing men want -- to have fun, baggage free.

OK, but what if there are KIDS involved, particularly the same age as the new young boyfriend? 48-year-old Linda Hogan, mom of pop star Brooke Hogan, is dating a 19-year-old boy, er, man -- 29 years her junior. Linda's boyfriend Charlie Hill went to high school with Brooke and was a year behind her.

How does this affect kids? Brooke talks candidly with Tyra today on this very topic -- here's a sneak peek.

I can’t stand Brooke Hogan…. She is giving her mom hell about dating a younger man … but doesn’t say anything bad about her dad who is dating a younger woman.

Typical to get upset over Mom doing it, but not Dad. Lame!

It depends. When I was 42 (divorced at 40), I dated a 25-year-old. Problem was, he wasn’t established and after some time I felt he was looking for someone to take care of him. I already have two children, so that wasn’t going to work. I would say if the younger guy has his own life and it’s a good one, and they also fit into yours, then hey, it could work! Otherwise, it may just be a fun thing and well-deserved ego boost after a bad marriage!

I wish everyone would stop looking at couples by the years between their birthdates. Actually it isn’t anyones business, but if it was, why can’t people observe a couples compatiablity, happiness and /or love. I think Linda, has found happiness and love so get over. What is everyone jealous?
