5 Ways to Tell Identical Triplets Apart

Rare identical triplets born in Pennsylvania. How can the new parents tell them apart?

One of these three things is exactly like the other! Identical triplets were born in western Pennsylvania to Amanda Faher and her husband Matthew Faher. The babies full names are Matthew Aaron, Nathan Brady, and Michael Christopher.

The births are nothing short of a miracle. There's a one in a million to one in 200 million chance of a woman having identical triplets without using fertility treatments.

The challenges of having triplets is enormous -- times three. Triple feedings and diaper changes and how on earth do you tell them apart? The couple might opt for the tried-and-true method of applying a tiny dot of nail polish to a different finger of each baby. Hopefully they won't resort to these less than successful tactics:

Top five WORST methods for telling identical babies apart:

1) The Britney: Give each triplet a unique look with a sassy wig.

2) Super Nannies: Hire three nannies (that you can tell apart!) and assign one to each baby.

3) The Easter Egg Dye: Dye each baby in a different shade of food coloring.

4) The G.P.S: Implant a unique homing device in each baby--it works for pets, right?

5) The Prison Method: Permanent face tattoos of baby's name make it so you'll never, ever, ever mix them up.

WOW! I couldn’t even imagine. The fact that it was natural is pretty cool. I always think of people with multiples, other than twins, getting fertility help.

Well congrats to them on the birth of three healthy, beautiful babies!! But I don’t think I would do the nail polish, I would probably do three different colors of clothing. Kevin could have green, Declan maybe blue and Cormac, could have red. Just a thought!!

Congratulations on the birth of three healthy baby boys. I’m mum to four wonderful children, so know how special it is to give birth, and be a parent - but three at the same time, wow! I’m sure mum and dad will soon be able to tell their boys apart, each of them individual.
Enjoy them, and their older siblings, you are blessed.
