Oprah Winfrey's Mom Countersues Store Over Bill: The talk show queens' mother says she shouldn't have to pay a $156,000 debt to a high-end fashion store because store clerks shouldn't have extended credit to her. Valentina Inc. alleges Vernita Lee of Milwaukee spent $155,547 in purchases and interest as of July 1. The company sued, saying Lee failed to pay minimum monthly payments of $2,000. Lee filed a counterclaim saying Valentina took advantage of her "lack of knowledge, ability, and-or capacity" when creating her credit account. According to court papers, Lee resolved a 2002 case with the company over a $175,000 bill. The resolution prohibited Valentina from extending further credit to her.

Are you kidding me? Seriously, is Oprah’s mom mentally challenged or something? I think it’s absurd that she might not have to pay the debt for the merchandise that she knowing purchased. Who cares that they weren’t allowed to extend credit to her!? It’s almost like she knew that they weren’t allowed to offer her credit, so she took advantage of the situation. Seriously, what in the world was that first settlement over? This REALLY grinds my gears!
Exactly the same situation that lenders and borrowers cite when they get in over their heasds. You buy something - you need to pay for it - it’s that simple. So now she’s a victim and shouldn’t have to pay? Well, the good thing is now Oprah will have a family member she can parade on her show and discuss how the store made her a victim. Plus, she’s a black person and that seems to fit in perfectly with Oprahs racial agenda over the last few years. What a couple of losers.
I love and respect Oprah Winfrey. She has made tremendous impact during her career, and it’s sad that OWN channel, which launched only two months ago, is already on decline of its viewership, and its ratings are 10 per cent less than for the cable channel it replaced - it was Discovery Health. The Oprah Channel is something like $240 million joint venture with Discovery and it definitely deserves to attract better audience. But for that the channel must has exceptional visionaries on board with new ideas for the content that has never been produced before. Then the channel can make even greater impact on the state of the society worldwide. It’s too bad that nobody in Ms.Winfrey’s team responds to the proposal that I have sent :-) We could take this channel to completely new level with the strategy that I have in mind. But the dialog must start… Until then… ;-) Oh well ;-)

This is CRAZY! Just because she is Oprah’s mother doesn’t mean she shouldn’t have to pay her debts!!!
She is taking advantage of this company who thought she was a decent person, but has found out she is just another scammer in this world. It is a very sad that she thinks she is better then the rest of us.
If I charge something and choose not to pay my bill I will go to prison. Of corse I don’t have the funds to charge 156,000 bucks worth of stuff. Heck, the credit card company would throw my ass in prison for a $2,000 unpaid bill. Why should Ms. Lee be any different then the rest of us?!
