Parents who don't pay child support in Virginia may be subjected to a humiliating consequence: Having their photo and personal information placed on a public "Most Wanted List."

Recently, eight men and one woman who evaded paying a combined total of $523,000 in child support are on Virginia's latest list.

Each offender is profiled on an online poster compiled by the Virginia Department of Social Services. The poster lists each person's photograph, physical description, last known address, occupation and the amount of child support owed.

The current culprits include a painter, car salesman and quality assurance inspector. They owe child support ranging from $177,401 for one child to $23,304 for two.

Many of the non-custodial parents have relocated, but they won't get off scot-free -- Virginia has reciprocal agreements with every state in the nation and 25 countries.

First of all, none of the people on this list have been charged with ANY CRIME relating to child support. Second of all, the woman and the man who’s last name is Raines (pictured, far left) BOTH have void and unenforceable orders in the court files, precipitated by non-attorney employees of DCSE having illegally signed legal pleadings which caused the orders to be issued. That is a crime in Virginia.

Wonderful my ex owes me 14 years of back child support at $589 a month, do the math! He keeps disappearing so he doesn’t have to pay. It is criminal! Something like this might just embarrass him into paying. Wish we lived in Virginia!

Several questions come to mind in reading this. First, why are these people not paying? Understand that true deadbeat parents are distasteful to me and should suffer some major consequences. However, I am not sure the government always does the right thing here. And they should be very careful before they publicly humiliate someone. Have any of them been denied parental rights by the other parent? Not a good reason to not support your child, but if I were denied visitation for no good reason I would consider holding the support. Lots of unanswered questions here. Sometimes even the courts get it wrong.

A problem with this is that the dads who Do pay child support, but something happens and hard times come up and they lose their job or whatever, it gives them a bad name, even tho they ARE trying their hardest.
