'The View': Elisabeth vs. Everyone

Things have been heated on the show lately -- and it seems the great Sarah Palin debate is to blame. Today Elisabeth Hasselbeck proposed that the show is perhaps too focused on Palin. Perhaps this was triggered by yesterday's blow out.  Check out the clips.

I have always enjoyed watching The View, but lately it has been unbareable. I understand the point of the show is to debate topics and for everyone to speak her peace, but Elisabeth is so obsessed with the McCain/Palin camp that it makes my head hurt. She gets so completely defensive anytime something bad is directed at the running Republican candidates. I think she’s forgotten the beauty of an openmind. Quite honestly the only reason I continue to tune in is because it’s kind of like a train wreck - I just can’t look away when she’s acting so childish. One might think McCain or Palin is a close family relative that she feels she needs to protect! Trust me Elisabeth, McCain is OLD enough to stand up for himself. And as far as Palin goes….even you Ms. Hasselbeck, can’t save her!

SHUT UP!! October 2, 2008, 4:53 PM

The all knowing whoopie has spoken so it must be true??? I wish she would just SHUT UP and let Elizabeth finish a sentence. Whoopie, Joy, Sheri & Babs are constantly suggesting that Elizabeth’s opposing opinions are stupid and/or racist. Elizabeth needs her own show so she can speak her mind without being insulted. Of course that’s how it goes… just another case of an attractive woman being labeled as stupid or worse simply because she has a different opinion. When are they going to bring on another republican to participate in Hot Topics? As a woman I am embarrassed by this show. Originally this show was to be 5 different views and now it’s just 2 … On one side is Elizabeth and all the others are on the opposing side doing everything they can to minimize her. That is not what this show was supposed to be.

I heard Fox News wants Elizabeth as a host maybe she should go.

Whoopi & Sheri get just as offended if Elisabeth says something about Obama.

I do feel sorry for Elisabeth….even though I do not agree with her.

Maybe its time for Elisabeth to go to the Fox network.

Elisabeth looked foolish yesterday. Barbara Walters, one of the best interviewers ever, and who has interviewed so many world leaders. She calmly asked a defensive Elisabeth…Tell us why you think Sarah Palin would make a good president? Elisabeth has a chance to again let us know what SHE thinks. Instead, she shouts back at Barbara, Why do you think Obama would make a good president!!! Please, that was so very rude and just stupid. We have had one month to gather info on what could be our next president!! It astounds me she gets a pass from the Republicans, just because she is a Republican. Elisabeth would be absolutely unglued if the situation was reversed.

Wow…these dumb Republican broads sure know sound alike and stick together!

Lmao - your comment really shows just how intelligent you must be…we should all be so lucky, my friend!

I respect different beliefs it just seems like Elisabeth doesn’t. She tries too hard to explain herself in hopes of getting people to agree with her but it’s not working.

Elisabeth has more experience than Sarah, perhaps she should be the VP elect. The experience that Sarah has fits in a thimble.

It seems that everyone can “respect different beliefs” unless you are being asked to listen to someone elses.
geesh!!!!

I stopped watching the show a long time ago because I can’t stand Elisabeth. She treats everyone else like they are stupid. If you don’t believe the way she does you are wrong. I wish they would replace her.
I think they should bring Rosey O’ back.
As far as Elisabeth going to FOX News. I wouldn’t wish her on anyone!

I have loved the cast of the view and have been a fan ever since the first show and still is. I have to agree that yes, they should let her finish a sentence. And that she has seem to have ‘forgotten the beauty of an open mind’. She needs to loosen up a bit and stop being so agressive with her point of views. She does take away from the ‘veiw and purpose’ of the show.

Joy butts in and doesn’t Elisabeth finish. Why is it okay for Joy (and sometimes Whoopi) to bad mouth Pres. Bush and other republicans? If Elizabeth says something about Barack Obama, Whoopi and Sheri are all over her. It just seems very one-sided to me.

anonymous October 3, 2008, 6:35 PM

I would just like to know why, Elisabeth dodged Barbara’s question? If she is going to talk about Obama/Biden she damn sure better answer questions when asked. She just looked very unprofessional.

They are a bunch of bullshit. (joy, whoopi, sheri) etc. how come they all get to have their points of opinon? but elisabeth doesnt get to finish what she was saying.. pisses me off i dont watch anymore!! what happened to freedom of choice for your candidate? they all want everyone to be behind obama, so they dog mccain/palin. why is there no focus on biden? whoopi you dont know everything!!!!!!!!!!

Diane October 14, 2008, 9:59 PM

I think Elizabeth is young, and she takes things a little over the top. You can discuss something without being overbearing and I think the rest of the crew do a good job in disagreeing without being disagreeable

carleen October 16, 2008, 6:19 PM

Good for you Elizabeth!! I’m so happy you are leaving the View. Now you can work with people who actually have an education and who act like adults regardless of their beliefs. You have always acted like a classy lady, unlike Joy and the rest of the view. you can have a “view” and act like a civilised human being people!!!!!

Sarah Palin is getting just what she has set herself up for. She is under a microscope!! No one has heard an thing about this women until she was chosen to be John McCains running mate for vice-president. So of course people are going to ask questions, why is she and her supporters so defensive? Why because they know John McCain could have made a better choice for a running mate, I can think of many other women who are diplimats and have political experience why not Condelea Rice? To me it is the old boy trick, if he cannot get the black man, he uses the white woman to try. Barak is steady, he is solid, and he is sincere about his goals for President. I am also grateful he has family values and a solid loving relationship with his wife, I believe that. And I stand by my statement!!
