A new diet has people eating bananas by the droves. But is it healthy?

There is a new weight lose craze in Japan called The Morning Banana Diet. And apparently its popularity is so huge, supermarkets in Tokyo can't maintain their supply with the demand for bananas.

The Morning Banana Diet is simple:

• For breakfast, eat a banana (or as many as you want) and a glass of room temperature water.

• You can eat anything you like for lunch and dinner -- even fried foods -- as long as you're finished eating by 8 p.m.

• A three o'clock snack is okay, but dessert is prohibited -- and you must go to bed before midnight.

• You can drink a bit of room-temperature water at meals, but only a little bit. Don't drink too much water throughout the day. You can drink alcohol at social events.

• You can work out if you really want to but otherwise don't worry about it. You don't want to put any stress on your body.

Experts question The Morning Banana Diet, saying the human body has three essential nutrients -- carbohydrates, fat and protein -- and that the rule is to balance these three nutrients and a daily calorie intake -- not O.D. on one specific food.

But fried food whenever you want, and skipping the gym? We're in.

Hello

Too much beer made me heavy so I recently tried eating cereal with soya milk for breakfast and lunch for a month or two but got completly fed up with it. I decided I would try and replace the cereal with fruit. I tried apples and oranges for a while but they didnt seem to fill me up enough and ended up eating 4 or 5 apples during the morning (only about 45 cals each I think so not that bad..) along with a couple of oranges. I got a bit worried that seeming as Im not the best at cleaning my teath and apples are quite high in acid that Id soon be at the dentist. I then decided to think of a different fruit and came up with bananas…not sure if these are any better for your teath but hey-ho. I have one banana at 9am then another at 10/10.30 and if still hungry another at about 11.15. I’ve read that having fruit on a completly empty somach is best as body breaks it down quick and so you get lots of energy. Anywho staggering my banana breakfast over the morning like this seems to give me good amount of energy, helps me concentrate and helps me resist eating lunch until 1pm. For lunch I have tasty sushi and think the combo of the two is def making me less heavy. I do drink loads of water though so not really following the banana diet to the letter…. Since I sarted on bananas I found lots of good stuff about them on the net including this diet and the fact that they can reduce blood pressure and increase happyness which is just what I need in my work at the mo…Its def all about the bananas.
