Watch Out for This Teen Diet Fad!

Here's a new diet that's advertising to young girls. As if we need another one...

If you're worried about Internet bullying on social networking sites like Facebook or Myspace, here's another one to add to your list.  They're advertising: "Get skinny with Pink: Get your dream body, be more popular." WTF? As if things aren't already scary enough, now, your kid will also find images of skinny girls in bikinis encouraging weight-loss by wearing this pink patch on her arm. The Pink Patch claims it will "rev up your metabolism, burn more calories, suppress your appetite and even put you in a better mood!." Though its website says one must be 18 to use it, their ads are clearly targeted towards the even younger crowd (the model looks about 15). The fact that the new patch isn't FDA regulated -- and its online ads were banned in the UK -- isn't stopping America though, and it can be added to our list of scary messages being sent to our teenage daughters.

I actually did see this ad on Facebook and tried it. I ordered the free one week supply and just paid a few dollars for shipping. Surprisingly, it worked. I felt great, and it helped to suppress my appetite a little. Don’t get me wrong, I still had an appetite, except I just ate half of what I normally ate and snacked less. I feel it worked and was pleased. But the fact that it’s not FDA approved does scare me a bit.
