Can you tell me why a married man will have an affair and why he will not leave his wife? and why the wife will not throw him out. There is a problem right?

Lori, I’m not an expert, but here’s my guess. He needs something from you that he’s not getting from his wife. However he still needs whatever he does get from his wife, which is a home, family and friends, his children, their history together. His life with his wife is part of his identity to the world and he’s not willing to sacrifice that for you. I can only guess that the wife stays for financial and emotional security - whatever little she can get. My question to you - how can you do this to his (or anybody’s) children? At some point, mom & dad are going to have it out, and little Jake/Emma will suffer the emotional consequences of this infidelity. Does that ever weigh heavily on your heart?
