5,000 People Have Spotted Caylee Anthony

Actual Caylee Anthony sightings are rare. That is, of course, if you don't count the ones called in by psychics.

Caylee Anthony, the adorable three-year-old girl from Orlando, Florida, has been missing since July. But that doesn't mean she hasn't been seen. Yesterday, the Gainesville Police Department says they're looking into a report that little Caylee Marie was seen at a Winn-Dixie grocery store over the weekend. "They saw a little girl with a gentleman shopping in a store and said the little girl looked like Caylee, so they felt strongly enough to give us a call," Caylee's grandmother Cindy Anthony said.

Although most believe the toddler is dead, this tip is being taken very seriously. "Right now we are treating it as an open investigation," said a Gainesville PD spokeswoman.

The grocery store spotting is one of the few tips released to the public of an actual eyewitness account. Most of the leads reported to the Orange County Sheriffs Office Crimeline, are from psychics, seers or from dreams.  In fact, of all the 1,800 pages of tips released to the public, only a handful refer to actual Caylee Marie sightings.

"The psychic tips are not what the law firm is going to concentrate on," said Todd Black, a spokesman for Jose Baez, the lawyer for Caylee's mother Casey Anthony.

Many of the psychics, sadly, have only information of the location of a deceased Caylee Marie -- like these tips:

Caller is concerned the child may be in a water well somewhere in Florida

Caller believes mother left child in car to cash a check. The child died in the car

Still others think she is alive, but in danger:

She feels the child is being held by a male approximately 32-years-old. He may or may not be the child's father.

She is sitting in an old camper or motor home.

The tips about Caylee's whereabouts are not without controversy. Dominic Casey of D & A Investigations, the agency working with the Anthonys, maintains the Orange County Sheriff's Department is withholding key information.  "There are in excess of 5,000 tips but they've only released about 1,000 and all of them from psychics."

Captain Angelo Nieves, Commander of Media Relations for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, told momlogic that all tips are looked at equally. "To us a tip is a tip," explained Captain Nieves. "Yes we have over 5,000 and when we released the first batch they were not sorted through. They are sequential. It just so happens, because of the high profile nature of this case, many people feel compelled to help."

What do you think about all of the Caylee "sightings"? Comment in the momlogic community.

I THINK THAT CASEY ANTHONY PUT THAT BABY CAYLEE IN A DUMPTER AND SHE IS OUT IN THE DUMP PLACE WHERE EVER THEY DUMP THE TRASH.. HAS ANYONE EVER LOOKED OUT THERE TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND HER… I HOPE SHE IS A LIVE BUT THE WAY EVERYONE IS TALKING I DON’T THINK SO THAT BREAKS MY HEART TO KNOW THAT ANYONE WOULD HARM THERE BABY…

It would be very beneficial if Casey would tell the truth, be it to whomever. I think Casey and Cindy have actually hindered the search for Caylee. I also strongly believe if Caylee is alive the Anthony’s have will have no say so as to where Caylee will be living the rest of her life. This entire family is unfit to raise a child. I’m sick of the “oh poor Cindy”, “oh poor George”, well you know what? They obviously still cannot control the first monster they tried to raise. I doubt anyone will put Caylee back into any of thier hands!

Have you ever had a relative or friend die, and then think you see them in a passing car or in the distance in a store? That has often happened to me and we of course know that the person is no longer with us. Our minds are very powerful and can trick us into thinking one thing when we see another. Unfortunately, I think that is the case with little Caylee. With all the publicity and pictures of her in the media it is always in the back of our minds hoping she will be found, when all the evidence clearly points to the fact that she is no longer with us. I’m sure none of the tipsters mean harm. I actually passed a dear friend on the road yesterday, and smiled. He unfortunately passed away five years ago and I had visited his grave last week. I’m sure subconciously he was on my mind and the person I saw obviously wasn’t him, but I could have sworn it was. I’m no psychiatrist and have no idea why this happens, but it is harmless I’m sure. I think it is just the way our mind is helping us cope.

Deb says ‘I think Casey and Cindy have actually hindered the search for Caylee.’ Really? That’s going WAY out on a limb there. Most people believe Casey is doing everything she can to help find Caylee. But now that you mention it… I guess you are right. Not calling the police or reporting Caylee missing, and then lying to investigators - on second thought you are right. Casey is hindering the search for Caylee. If only we had a clue as to why she might do that… As for Cindy and George not being able to control Casey - she is an adult and her parents are no longer responsible for her actions or behavior.

Duh said, “Casey is hindering the search for Caylee. If only we had a clue as to why she might do that…” Maybe because she is a lying spoiled brat?? Cindy made her that way, IMO. Cindy and George are living in a dream world if they truly believe Caylee has been seen alive. The whole world knows Casey killed that baby. I pray that the authorities find Caylee’s remains before Casey goes to court!

im tired of this whole case someone really needs to fess up. since day 1 ive always thought the grandparents had something to do with this. most grandparents that live close to they’re grandchildren see them a couple times a wk. i mean did they think it was normal not to see little caylee for a month before they decided to report her missing. come on get real this whole case is nothing but bs. i really dont think they should give up on the search until they find her dead or alive. plus a big red flag why wont the family take a lie dectecter test if they have nothing to hide whats the problem. if it were me in this case n i didnt do anything i would be more then willing to take one.

They are looking for Caylee in the wrong place . They should be looking near the Target store that Casey shopped at . There is a manufacturing plant near the store and behind this plant is a wooded area . They should be looking here .

Psychics? Why haven’t they found her body? How many people have claimed to see Elvis! This is worse than the energizer bunny- it goes on and on and on. What “walking zombie” left a unique hair with a death band in Caseys trunk?

I think Casey left her purse, the carseat, the bag of trash from Tony’s, and the lingering smell, and at one time Caylee’s body, there to point the finger at Tony L. The plan changed when she didn’t disappear beforehand as she planned. The scene at the tow yard, with George coming back with Cindy, engaging the office girl in such a dispute that the man in the yard had to be called in, that sounds like an old trick called “the stall”. If there was an opportunity or a time to have a family member check the trunk with that extra key they had, this would have been the time. Whoever checked, then removed the evidence and that is why dad had them check the trunk before they left the yard. A witness saw that there was “no body” in there. I don’t know how big that yard is or if there are woods nearby, but if there were, I hope the police checked that area. The person could have just walked the 35 lb. body to the back fence, covered it with leaves or limbs and come back when the yard wasn’t open to retrieve it. I think Casey left her purse, the carseat, the bag of trash from Tony’s, and the lingering smell there to point the finger at Tony L. I think Casey had intended to take her new clothes, purchased with Amy’s money, establish a new identity (maybe Calif. with that soldier), use the stolen cash to buy a ticket and disappear. Police would then be investigating two missing people, Casey and Caylee and Casey’s life would be fresh, new, no worries. Would Casey have been that devious? Yes, lying to your family, stealing, using them? Lying and stealing from friends who were kind to you? Yes Stealing from your daughter, grandmother, grandfather? Yes. Allowing your family to think you were dead, along with your missing daughter? Yes, sounds just like a solution she would have come up with. The only thing that messed up her plan, the car being towed so quickly. I think Cindy just found her about a day too soon through a fluke, finding Amy’s number. I wouldn’t be surprised if Casey had already purchased a ticket, at a low cost and was just waiting the 21 day waiting period to leave. According to Cindy, she was talking to Casey everyday

It’s such a sad thing. She probaly told her “were going to the pool” (found bathing suit near body)then took her out in to the backyard to get her beach toys.(Sandbox in yards i’ve seen pictures of it)Then killed her. That’s when some pobably came home so she hid her in the playhouse (dogs alerted smell of death there) then after they left threw her in a bag into the car and drove around for 18 days on pizza the got scared when dad came home and though of her old “after school hang out” Place, the threw here out the car window. Then when that dude found her cause he had to pee he kicked at it knowing it might be caylle or kittens people do that to kittens too. my grandfather must be help us find here because that guys car is a colordo and he died after being hit by a car there and died in a coma.

I do not understand why the utility man worked in this area since August, what is the problem why he would need to be there?

All those psychics should be fined for clogging up the official tip line staff with their drivvel. Imagine having to transcribe all that. What a way to eat up manpower.

I’m only 16 but Caylee was a cutie. i think its horrible that her mother killed her. Her daughter was so young and had to have a great future ahead of her. my prayers go out to Caylee, may you rest in peace. i knonw she went to heaven, and her mother got what she deserved.

i see that Casey may have left Caylee in her car-or boot..sedated/drugged, while she went out -drinking/to see a man(she may have done this b4 and all went to plan)- but this time it didnt- comes back to her car to find she had died.. either from suffocation-too hot/ or being drugged & rolled over facedown..or drugg O.D..
