Why Nobody is Looking for Caylee

Friday, November 21, 2008

Momlogic spoke to the lead spokesperson from the investigation on why he believes Caylee Anthony is dead.

Caylee anthony

Most people following the tragic case of missing Caylee Marie Anthony believe the child met her end at the hands of her own mother, Casey Anthony. Adding to the public's doubts of Casey Anthony's innocence, Cindy and George Anthony's lawyer quit yesterday because he said he could no longer stand by his clients' belief their granddaughter is alive. Now even the lead investigators on the case believe the three-year-old is dead. Officials at the Orange County Sheriff Department issued a statement today that they will only follow tips leading to finding Caylee's remains. They will no longer investigate Caylee Anthony sightings.

This means the latest sighting released by Cindy and George Anthony of a little girl playing on a playground in west Florida will be ignored.

Why? We spoke with Sgt. Carlos Padilla from the Orange County Sheriff's Office for an explanation. "Everything we have: the evidence from the labs, the grand jury indictment, the FBI reports ... they all say that Caylee is dead," he explains. "It would be irresponsible for us to keep up false hope. The sheriff's office will go with what the evidence indicates, and it indicates the child is dead."

Carlos Padilla is particularly outraged at the Anthonys for releasing a picture of the girl at the playground. "First of all," argues Padilla, "I have five kids, I can spot them in any picture. The Anthonys raised Caylee. They should know what she looks like."

The image he refers to is of a little girl about the same age as Caylee with the same color hair. But if the police did indeed investigate that lead, this is what would happen next: "That family, the parents of that child, would now have to verify that the child is theirs," he says. "Police would come to their house and the parents would have to come forward." Investigating such tips and leads costs police time, money, and resources.

One of the other considerations, according to Padilla, is how a continued search for Caylee would affect the jury at Casey Anthony's trail, set for January. "If we continue to look for a living child, when we have all the evidence to the contrary, it can be used as a way to cast doubt on the jury," he says. "We can be accused of still following leads and tips -- so, the defense can claim we must think the girl is alive. The Anthonys, apparently, are trying to keep the doubt going-- in that way, they can help save their daughter."

Padillia, proud father of five, says he uses Casey's story as a lesson for his older kids: "I tell them that this is an example of a lie." He says that if Casey would just admit what she did, if it was an accident, there could be closure and she wouldn't be on charged with first-degree murder. "But now," he concludes, "it's too late."

What do you think about the police department calling off the search for Caylee? Comment below.

If the ant’s really thought that this was their Caylee, don’t you think they’d rush there to find out right away? Because the “Kidnappers” might move her again, and how stupid could they be to take a nationally known missing child out in public. This is yet another attempt at putting doubt out that caylee is alive only to protect thier murder daughter, come on if I thought that was my child or grand child I’d be there in a flash!

I can’t beleive that someone would kidnap a child, and then stay in the same city with that child.

I really think the Anthony’s releasing pictures of innocent children who are clearly not Caylee is just wrong. These children’s faces shouldn’t be in the media and online - I truly feel for them and their families. More innocent victims of the Anthony’s. I also pray that LE does something soon to stop George and Cindy.

G Harland is exactly correct! I just did a digital comparison (and an analog comparison just to be safe) of every other person in that photo. What I discovered is shocking. The woman in the foreground of the photo watching Caylee, the one sitting next to a man with his arm around her… If you take a photo of the real Zenaida and superimpose it on this woman’s head you find a perfect match! And the man’s head is a perfect match for Lee Anthony! Now we have solid proof that Caylee is still alive and that Casey has been telling the truth all along. Why aren’t the police doing anything? Someone should help this poor dear sweet precious beautiful little sweet angel. God oh god someone help her!

The part that keeps causing me trouble is this …. why would she go to such extremes to get rid of the body, and not also make at least a reasonable attempt to get rid of the evidence the car contained?

Rachel, I exactly agree with you. She could easily have disposed of the car in a more thorough way than parking it somewhere so it would be found and impounded. And what kind of moron would google how to make chloroform on their own computer. At least she would have known enough to go to a library. She shows no sign of being reckless and emotionally disturbed. She appears cool, calculating and at times smug. “They haven’t even found the clothes she was wearing”. She is having a hoot laughing at the Police while they charge her with murder. If she were really guilty (of murder) she would not be laughing at them. What she is guilty of is not actually a crime. She left her daughter in the care of a nanny and it was not her who reported her daughter as missing. She has made no false crime report she has answered police questions. The fact that they have not found her answers credible does not amount to proof that her answers aren’t true. If the Police want to convict her they will have to prove that she was lying. When she sues them and the newspapers/Fox/Nancy Grace/ etc. she will only have to prove that they said that she lied and that she had killed her daughter. I think she will be able to call a few 100 million witness to that fact. The respondants in that lawsuit will have to prove that those statements were not libelous. Good luck with that. Casey is a Playa and you been played. I think the police and the press have followed the script that she has written for them. And soon she will pull the trump card and then sue the living cr*p out of everyone and his lapdog (and by dog I mean Padilla).

Robin - Is that a joke? do you really think Casey is that brilliant and has some untold motive to set this whole thing up? We are not talking about the royal family here. I do not think that someone who had such an elaborate plan would be out laughing and partying the next day. She left her car with purse and keys purposely - so someone would steal it and they would be blamed for the smell of a dead body. I think that is pretty obvious. Well, she is out of luck, no one stole the car. She lied to her boyfriend and told him that her dad was picking it up. I think if a person tells one tiny lie about a matter of a missing child -they are guilty. Period. If your child went missing - there would be no reason to lie about anything if you really did not know anything. Why would LE follow up on any leads after charging her with 1st degree murder. Isn’t that a contridiction? I think we all want to complicate the case. She killed her and tried to cover it up. The simple obvious answer is usually the correct one. 99% of the evidence points to guilt - why even explore the 1% chance of another story? Casey is not all that complex. But I guess it makes the story more interesting to speculate on other explainations.

The whole thing is simple. The grandparents are trying to keep their kid out of jail so they are using these tips as much as possible. What gets me are the people that continue to let them “con” them. The police have it right, they know what they are doing. That is one sicko family, I am glad Caylee is out of their clutches, she would have ended up just like her mother and grandmother. I believe she is safe in Heaven. If it is anyone that is using this child, it is her family with their drama and ungratefulness to the people that have tried to help them. They ought to be run out of town. God help their neighbors. After that protest episode, which the Anthony family encouraged with them running out with baseball bats, the need to be in the “looney bin”.

There is a video that the FBI has released interviewing George where he says Casey forged grandma’s name on a $4000 deposit and took it. Where is this wacko spending all the money? She lives with her parents, drives a car that was her mothers, buys underwear at Target. Uhhhhhhhhh, what is she doing with all the money she steals? Up her nose????? Buying groceries for her boyfriends to keep them around? Where?

I’m curious to know. If Casey were acquitted of all charges tomorrow, what would they all do next? Would they continue to look for Caylee or would they just go on their merry way? I also can not understand why the ocso has not dug up the “new patio” in the back yard.

Searching for a dead child is one thing. Searching for someone who is not able to be found is another. What is it?

Annie, you took the words right out of my mouth. All of these wild speculative theories of what has supposedly gone on and the ridiculous scenarios that have been put forth by armchair detectives are enough to turn my stomach. What is not wild speculation is that Casey is probably a sociopath, which is not a mental illness and it does not mean she can not distinguish right from wrong. She simply is void of a conscience. She killed her daughter either accidentally or with murderous intent and what happened in the days and weeks following were a series of calculated decisions and missteps that left clues to her daughter’s demise and her intent to cover it up. Period. Whether the Anthonys are trying to misdirect the investigation or are simply holding out hope that their granddaughter is alive is anyone’s guess. LE has done the right thing to stop investigating these sightings. All these little grls look so much alike. What is unlikely is that she would surface in Orlando, at a mall.

who kidnaps a child for 25 weeks and takes them to a playground in a shopping center where there are so many ppl looking for this child???? utterly ridiculous.

OK WHERES THE PERSON TO SAY THAT’S MY CHILD IN THE PICTURE? NOONE HAS COME FORTH AND WHY NOT COULD;D THIS MAYBE BE CAYLEE?

Glitter, Not everyone on the planet (Or Orlando for that matter) is captivated by this story down to the minutia of detail. That child looks so much like a large portion of the 3 year old population in this country that it just doesn’t jump out as being a particular child. If you go into any day care center or preschool I bet you could pluck out a handful of little girls who fit the description of the child in that photo. Heck, if I walk outside into my neighborhood in California I could take a picture of a few little girls that fit poor Caylee’s description and call it a “sighting.”

Okay everyone needs to get real. All the questions saying why would anyone take Caylee out in public in such a high profile case, well I’ll tell you. For one LE has already stated she is dead and will follow no more leads in sightings so if someone did kidnap her there is theie open door to appear in public. As far as the comment about digging upi the new patio, get a clue there is no new patio on concrete pavers that were there when they searched. The problem is , is that people hear one comment(the new patio) and instead of actually researching for themselves to find out there is no patio they believe it. What narrowminded people we have in this world.

WAIT! Some people do kidnap and keep the children. Remember Delimar Vera from Phillidelphia? Every one believed she was dead but her mom kept her hope alive. She felt she was right. And she found her 6 years later and now the little girl is back with her family. Remember the boy named Steven from California back in the early 80s or late 70s. He was gone for years and made his way back. There is no hard evidence unless there is something that has not been released to the public. Keep your hopes alive. There is always a possibility. and how great would it be to find out she is alive and back home soon!

Just look at the girl in the background of that photo. She looks like Caylee also! -Anne

Well, there have been some very good points made by the release of this picture. First, I agree…what kidnapper would take such a risk taking a kidnapped child to such a public place, especially such a high profile kid. Second, I have eight children and could also spot them anywhere. But no, I don’t want to jump the gun either, I mean who could forget what happend to the poor Ramsey’s? I am however using common sense when you consider the evidence and the behavior of the defendent. I am 99.9 percent sure she murdered her daughter, either purposely or accidently, but either way I am anxious for this case to get started. I honestly feel if she did it, it will be proven with out a shadow of a doubt. As for the grandparents, I’m just praying for them. Caylee I know is in a better place.
