Momlogic spoke to the lead spokesperson from the investigation on why he believes Caylee Anthony is dead.

Most people following the tragic case of missing Caylee Marie Anthony believe the child met her end at the hands of her own mother, Casey Anthony. Adding to the public's doubts of Casey Anthony's innocence, Cindy and George Anthony's lawyer quit yesterday because he said he could no longer stand by his clients' belief their granddaughter is alive. Now even the lead investigators on the case believe the three-year-old is dead. Officials at the Orange County Sheriff Department issued a statement today that they will only follow tips leading to finding Caylee's remains. They will no longer investigate Caylee Anthony sightings.

This means the latest sighting released by Cindy and George Anthony of a little girl playing on a playground in west Florida will be ignored.

Why? We spoke with Sgt. Carlos Padilla from the Orange County Sheriff's Office for an explanation. "Everything we have: the evidence from the labs, the grand jury indictment, the FBI reports ... they all say that Caylee is dead," he explains. "It would be irresponsible for us to keep up false hope. The sheriff's office will go with what the evidence indicates, and it indicates the child is dead."

Carlos Padilla is particularly outraged at the Anthonys for releasing a picture of the girl at the playground. "First of all," argues Padilla, "I have five kids, I can spot them in any picture. The Anthonys raised Caylee. They should know what she looks like."

The image he refers to is of a little girl about the same age as Caylee with the same color hair. But if the police did indeed investigate that lead, this is what would happen next: "That family, the parents of that child, would now have to verify that the child is theirs," he says. "Police would come to their house and the parents would have to come forward." Investigating such tips and leads costs police time, money, and resources.

One of the other considerations, according to Padilla, is how a continued search for Caylee would affect the jury at Casey Anthony's trail, set for January. "If we continue to look for a living child, when we have all the evidence to the contrary, it can be used as a way to cast doubt on the jury," he says. "We can be accused of still following leads and tips -- so, the defense can claim we must think the girl is alive. The Anthonys, apparently, are trying to keep the doubt going-- in that way, they can help save their daughter."

Padillia, proud father of five, says he uses Casey's story as a lesson for his older kids: "I tell them that this is an example of a lie." He says that if Casey would just admit what she did, if it was an accident, there could be closure and she wouldn't be on charged with first-degree murder. "But now," he concludes, "it's too late."

Also Marcie, the judge just last week refused to gag Cindy so she is free to spread her venom nationwide. I doubt if the authorities will ever arrest her for interfering in an investigation even though she washed away Caylee’s DNA from body fluids on Casey’s pants and deliberately gave the FBI Casey’s brush instead of Caylee’s. She goes ballistic every time the searchers are out searching for Caylee’s body. I think the investigators think she is acting crazy because she is a grieving grandmother. Like you, I think Cindy was probably crazy long before Caylee was born. I think Cindy is probably the mother and wife from hell and bullies her family into saying what she wants to hear. She doesn’t want to hear that her own daughter steals, lies and murdered her grandchild. I believe Casey is a sociopath and Cindy enabled her to lie, steal and kill and verbally abused her.

I won’t be posting here again. I don’t like censorship or waiting for a blog owner to “approve” my post. Yes, people post garbage, but that is what the delete button is for. If it’s spam you’re worried about, there are many spambot filters you can install. But don’t censor your contributors.

While I agree that evidence is pointing towards Caylee is dead, I still feel it’s wrong for people to denounce the belief and hope from other people that the girl is still alive. All over momlogic and other websites allowing viewer comments are a mixture of people talking about how guilty Casey is, how she thinks and plans to get away with it, and accusations made by pessimists that people who are trying to think positively about the girl being alive are being stupid and wasting their time. Just because people hope and pray the little girl is alive doesn’t give anyone the right to judge them, say they are wrong and to stop hoping for something that can’t happen, because they don’t have the right to. If you aren’t God and you aren’t anyone involved in this case, who do you people think you are to shoot down someone’s optimistic feelings about the whereabouts of this little girl? As for this debacle, I personally think that Cindy is behaving this way for an amusing reason. I personally think that when they were younger, Casey and Lee had a love-hate relationship. Casey was treated like a princess (by George) and Lee was beaten (by George or both). Lee got angry, and an incest baby was made (this could possibly be supported by the way Casey talks to Lee calling him “sweetheart” and “honey”. Some people fall in love or develop feelings for their raper/kidnapper). Cindy, not knowing her daughter was pregnant until late in the pregnancy, despite her occupational background, felt like she wasn’t being as motherly as she should have been. She began pampering Caylee (along with George) and Casey finally fell out of the spotlight. Thus creating the family you have today. I know it seems farfetched, and people are going to insult me for it, but you can’t get mad at me for saying it CAN happen. It explains all of the family’s behaviors and possible motive.

Because finding dead people tends to be really hard and finding a dead little girl in Florida who is safe to say eaten by gators, people its not going to happen the girl is dead and the little sexy mom is the one who killed her.

Colleen- You say I have NO brain to think for myself however, news flash; IT’S REALLY YOU that doesn’t!!!!!!! Case in point: You list ” Natural Born Killers ” as a movie I should check out. Well guess what? I have!! Also, those ” Natural Born Killers”; when all was said & done where as DUMB AS DUMB could get !!!!!!! They apparently didn’t realize that: CRIME DOESN’T PAY, YOU DO !! When I was Casey’s age, girls such as her were know a Nempho’s, she will not get what she needs in prison. She will get her Just deserts. All her lies are coming to a END. I feel sorry for George and all the crap he has put up with the women in his life ruling the roost. Those who disagree need to look in the mirror and stop and think about LIFE.

Unfortunately no one needs to argue over whether Caylee is alive or dead anymore. I’ve read through the posts and I do believe in our justice system and that individuals are innocent until proven guilty. However, as a mother, I can’t comprehend partying for a month while my child was missing, not calling the police, not discussing it with anyone, lying to the police, having them chase down leads which I know are false, etc, etc….It is very difficult to believe the sky is brown when you can clearly see it for what it is.

Well….I think we can all pretty much say at this point that anyone who had thought the continued search for Caylee (alive) was a waste of time was correct. It is unfortunate, but, the police were correct and poor Caylee is no longer with us. How sad. Sad that she was killed - and sad that more people couldn’t wrap their brains around the obvious truth sooner.
