Crystal Meth Found in Boy's Halloween Bag

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

A couple called police after discovering suspected methamphetamine and $85 among their seven-year-old's candy.

Parents Lars and Shelly Brosdahl believe that a teenager dropped the $200 worth of drugs into their son's candy bag while he was trick-or-treating with his sister.

"He said some bigger kid ran by him and asked if he wanted some candy," Lars Brosdahl said. "He said 'Sure,' and the kid dropped it into his bag."

They also said that the meth crystals looked like rock candy. "The (kids) could have OD'd on it. That's what makes me so shaky and upset," Shelly Brosdahl said.

Police believe that the teenage male may have been a suspect fleeing police after a report of an assault in the area.

This is thoroughly depressing. In my day it was razorblades in apples, and that seemed bad enough (and it was safe because no kid would ever eat an apple on Halloween night). Sigh…I wonder if the teenager got away?

I think someone should still be checking your kids trick or treat bags for this very reason!!! I remember the apples scare and it seems like people always try to ruin some kind of fun!

We always look over candy before eating any of it. If it is not labeled or familiar we don’t eat it.
