woman voting

Moms everywhere are at the polls, making sure their voices can be heard. We talked to five women who cast their vote:

"It was a rejuvenating experience. It was so unifying for everyone in my community to come together for the same cause. There were about 60 people in line -- and that included 12 kids and 4 babies. There were even 4 dogs! It was a real slice of Americana." - Jill

"It was my first time voting and it was very exciting. It was kind of intimidating at first, but it was easier than I thought it would be. Once I was done, I went straight to Starbucks for my free coffee!" - Ani

"My polling place was run by a bunch of baffoons who didn't know what they were doing. It's a miracle to me that democracy works! There were two precincts voting at the same place and the volunteers couldn't figure out where we should line up or even where we could exit. Putting my ballot in a cardboard box didn't make me feel very secure. Will my vote even be counted?" - Melissa

"I took my 1-year-old daughter to the polls and was in line for over an hour. My daughter was very fiesty and it was hard for her to wait that long, but I wanted her to be with me on this historic day." - Annie

"I voted at an old folk's home. We stood in the rain for way too long, but it was worth it. All of my three kids were with me. It's very important for them to be a part of the process. My oldest daughter who's 8 is already counting down to 2020 when she'll be old enough to vote for president and make a difference." - Rachel

I took the three kids to our polling place — our 4-year-old went with us last time too. And our daughter just became an America citizen 8 weeks ago so this is not only a historic election for America, but an emotional one for our family.

I voted two weeks ago - absentee ballot!
Unfortunately, the 2000 and 2004 elections have made me suspicious of electronic voting.
Here in California, it is all aout keeping our rights - protecting our girls from crazy parents by voting against the parental notification initiative and protecting our equal rights under the constitution to have marriages recognized by our government.
It feels good to vote. To have your voice heard. To acknowledge that I have a say in decisions that will affect me. I ALWAYS vote. We need to ensure that our rights as human beings - no matter what color or gender preference is preseved and that our rights as women are not abridged in any way - especially by our age!

It is unfortunate but in Hawaii Obama supporters have taken on the stance of bullying McCain supporters and trying to prevent them from voting. A least that has been my experience. Its really sad! Until this whole election thing mist Hawaiians hadn’t even heard of Obama but once he decided to run for president he became one of them. That how it works here, remember American Idol and Jasmine Triest? So Sad! I just wanted to vote!

YES, I did vote! I proudly took my two children with me: 11 year old son & 5 year old daughter. Since my son was studying & following the election in school, he was interested in the whole process and touch screen vote. (he thought that was “cool!”) I read an article that it’s important for your children to see their parents cast a vote! (I was sure to let them know to keep their opinions to theirselves!)Why is America focusing on the race of Obama? After all, he is hald Hawaiian! I hope I made the riht choice; he seems to be level headed!
