Let's celebrate.

How great is the thought of being able to go home and relax after a long day and not having to make dinner? Well, if your hubby isn't aware of this national holiday, you're going to have to cook ... unless you let him know.

"National Men Make Dinner Day" is celebrated on the first Thursday of November and should be observed by men everywhere. (If you're one of those women whose hubby cooks dinner every night, count yourself lucky ... this holiday is for the 99% of us who aren't as fortunate as you are.)

Make sure the man in your life knows about this special day by sending him an e-mail or simply link him to the website, then he can take it from there. He'll have no excuses since the website offers recipes that any man can make.

Here are 10 reasons why your man should celebrate:

1. While cooking, you can still wear your tool belt, simply replace the hammer with a whisk.
2. Several recipes include beer as a legitimate ingredient.
3. The blender, the electric mixer and the food processor are loud enough to drown out anyone in the house who is learning a musical instrument.
4. Whoever is cooking always gets the most attention from the dog.
5. Whatever recipe you choose, you can name it after yourself. Example: tonight's dinner is called 'Doug's Surprise'.
6. Discovering that '250 ml' is the same as '8 ounces' AND '1 cup' is half the fun.
7. Since YOU choose the recipe, it can be a turnip-free night.
8. Some desserts, such as crème brulee, require the use of a propane torch. How much fun is that?!
9. Since other husbands in your neighborhood are also cooking dinner, ironically this could be the ultimate male bonding experience.
10. Participating in "National Men Make Dinner Day" gives you optimum points with your wife. Use those points wisely!

Are you celebrating "National Men Make Dinner Day"?

Yeah that’s a nice thought and all but anytime my husband cooks he makes a huge greasy mess. Just the other night I was making spagetti. I had garlic, shrooms, onions and carrots sauteeing in the pan and he comes in and wants to help and starts stirring it and slopping it all over. I was just standing there thinking Oh God why?? He kept adding more butter and when he adds spices he holds the jar 2 feet above the pan so I end up with pepperall over the place. Anyhow, it just turns out to be a bigger mess. So thanks, but no thanks!!
