First Daughters -- The Next Fashion Icons?

People are going nuts for Malia and Sasha Obama's red and black election night dresses. Are they trendsetters in the making?

Turns out Michelle Obama isn't the only fashion icon in the Obama household. Ten-year-old Malia wore a red silk taffeta dress on election night made by Biscotti Inc., and retailers are going crazy over it. They tried to contact the brand to increase their stock of the dress, but were met with little success. Malia's $110 dress, which was purchased at Nordstrom according to an Obama spokeswoman, isn't available anywhere -- not even from it's maker. Speaking of, Bernadette Reiss, the co-owner of Biscotti, had no idea Malia would be wearing her dress, but hopes to dress her for the presidential inauguration.

President Obama’s girls do dress very nice. I like the way they are still dressed as little girls (Mrs. Obama doesn’t try to make them appear grown up)…. very, very cute!!

Okay, we have Palin getting slammed for the clothes bought for her by the Republican Party. Noone is slamming the Obama people for spending $110 on a KIDS dress!!! My children have dresses from Walmart and Goodwill. We have never spent that much on any article of clothing. Expensive clothing should not be a taxpayer’s expense, though I fear it will be in the very near future! Hypocrits in their very essence!!!

Who doesn’t try to find bargains beyond Walmart and Goodwill? You simply can’t tell people where to shop for themselves. Why waste your time comparing the Obama’s choice of clothing to your own choice of clothing? -Sharon Short
