Did You Like Michelle Obama's Dress?

Wednesday, November 5, 2008
filed under: fashion logic

Though the mom-in-chief has made some excellent fashion choices lately, we weren't digging last night's dress.

As the Obama family took the stage, it was undoubtedly one of most significant moments in our history. Wasn't it cute that the entire family matched? Barack in a red tie, their daughters in black and red dresses and Michelle in her little Narciso Rodriguez number.

Speaking of that dress ... What did you think?

Mrs Obama needs Tim Gunn. He would never let her wear something that wasn’t flattering. Her dress did look nice on the runway in its’ original style, but the remake was terrible. She has some nice dresses but needs to get some “first lady” style. She’s very plain. Most of her dresses could be worn to work or out shopping. Those days of shopping in stores for her clothes are over. “Designer”will be her look now, but she still needs a professional like Tim. He’s great! Maybe she can give her hand me downs to Mr Obama’s aunt that’s on welfare.

All I could think of is she looked like a bumble bee but if the colors had been yellow instead of red. As to the comment by anonymous as to haters ask this what about the billions Obama has spent more than the last 2 candidates combined in the last election, that shows how well he relates to the downtrodden:) And the money spent on Palin was by the campaign, not her and SHE WASN’T KEEPING ANY OF THE CLOTHES THEY GO TO CHARITY AND OR AUCTIONS FOR CHARITY so at least try to educate yourself on topics before showing the part of society you obviously are from. Palin buys her clothes for the most part from a consignment store in her hometown, bet you don’t!!

If you haven’t toured the White House yet, do it before January 20th. If that dress is indicative of Michelle taste, the poor place will never be the same.

The design looked very confusing. It may have looked better without the short sweater she was wearing, or maybe, if the top red portion went all around to the back.

The rest of the family looked great. Her dress was not at all. People don’t get so emotional, the question was about the dress not her. We have to be “haters” just because we answer a question? I am sure like all first lady’s she will have an advisor for how to look the part. She will be going through alot of changes.

She is mean looking to me, wish she would smile more. Maybe, she can now that she can finally be proud to be an “American”, or is she? Anyhow, that dress was a terrible pick to say the least.

No. It was very ugly!!! Not only that, it is the wrong time of the season for that type of dress. Being the first lady, she should have been in a very nice suit with some stockins on her legs. She could never go wrong wearing a nice suit at all times with a very nice pair of shoes. Not flats…She has too much class to continue to feel like she needs to dress down. It is OK to dress nice Michelle you earn this. This is her time to shine with her husband. But we all know she will do well as a 1st lady because she is very smart like our 1st BLACK PRESIDENT. I am very proud of them! WHAY TO GO OBAMA’S !!!!

I have always thought Obama was the anti-christ so his wife wearing a dress that looked like smoke and flames was fitting.

She’s a lady with much class and I do like that about her. I am very proud of her and the man of her life that’s here to help make a diffrence in Am. Our 1st Black President! However, the dress was just ugly and not for her at all. Too much for the type of program it was. She needs a designer that will make things work for her and not him…the designer should have known that before putting it on her and thinking it was right for the evening because it was not. If this designer is going to cause this much fuss again about the 1st lady’s wear…I say drop him NOW because we should be saying how nice her wear is each time she steps out and not bad things like he has cause Am. to say.

Dress was fine, its the black cardigan that ruined the look.

I believe the dress is hideous. The first job she will have beyond caring for her daughters is learning how to dress the part of a first lady.

That dress brings back nightmares of HC’s first inagural suit - the purple one w/the big purple hat but the colors didn’t match at all. I didn’t think it could get any worse than that. However, THIS dress has to be the worst “First Lady” dress in history! Tasteless, classless, cheap and downright hideous. Scary to think what she will do to the White House - black & red drapes? Most likely whatever it is, you will most likely think you’re in a black funeral parlor or brothel! But if you’re expecting elegance, forget it as it seems to have gone by the wayside along with so many other American traditions. Very sad.

My first reaction when she walked out on stage was “what the hell is she wearing?!” I tried like hell to see it in any positive manner but anyway you look at this monstrosity of a dress it still looks like an ugly 80’s prom dress with a sweater from the bottom of her closet thrown on to try to keep her warm.

All of these comments on Michelle Obama’s dress are absolutely ridiculous! Get a life.

I don’t agree that Michelle Obama always has good taste in clothing like Jackie Kennedy. Michelle may has the same similar look outfit on like Jackie but her body shape is different than Jackie. I don’t like that red dress on Michelle.
