Old Navy's just launched their new plus-sized collection of cocktail dresses, evening wear and casual styles sizes 16 - 30. Are you kidding? Little girls are going to get fat just so they can wear the new Old Navy clothes? Please get serious. I think it’s a great decision. At least overweight girls can finally wear the same styles as their friends and possibly avoid some of the teasing that they endure.
I agree—Little girls are not GOING TO GET FAT JUST TO WEAR OLD NAVY’S NEW PLUS SIZE line! Are you kidding? that sounds ridiculous. It’s just accepting our bodies for what they are, not encouraging girls to get fat. This is a line for women, not girls anyway..so..
I think it’s terrific. I don’t think it’s encouraging obesity. What should we plus sized girls do.. hide out naked in our houses until we’re skinny enough to buy an acceptable sized clothing? Or should we wear hideous garbs so that we are public shamed and flogged for being overweight? No woman or little girl is going to look at plus sized clothing and think to herself that she’d like to beef up to wear that blouse. However, fashion mags and clothing stores that showcase size 0 clothing WILL cause a little girl to think to herself that if she wants to be like everyone else - she should starve herself to achieve it.
The clothes are great and so are the prices….but be careful, I think the sizes are way off, I ordered pants and they were at least 2 sizes too big, which is not nessecarily a bad thing, but I really have no idea what size I should order and with them only being available online you can’t try them on, you can only guess. Shirts on the other hand were perfect.
It’s great that Old Navy is now offering plus sizes but instead of only being available online or segregated into their own Plus Size section I wish that stores would just offer clothes in plus sizes alongside the non-plus sized clothing. Because …. really…. who likes shopping in the FAT-GIRL section?
I wear a size 12 jean in Old Navy brand. However, I have a curvy booty, and a smaller waist. I can get the jeans on, but the waist is always gaping open! I feel like I need the adjustable elastic pieces in the waistband that they put in the little kids’ pants!
Will Old Navy ever make jeans for curvy women? I’m not plus size, just curvy and hard to fit.
As for plus sized little girls clothes, I agree that kids need to have clothes that fit. Whether they are stick straight (like my girls- and we have trouble finding jeans that don’t fall off), or a little husky. Not every child is made to fit into the clothes on the racks. Everybody’s different, and it’s about time somebody finally realized this!
Curvy Mom - I have a similar problem… I’m a size 12 too and if I buy jeans that fit my waist then they’re too tight for my thighs… the only solution I’ve found is buy the right size for my thighs and then take them to the tailor to have the waist taken in. Oh and have them hemmed because I’m 5’2” and all pants are too long for me. Alterations usually cost me $10-$15 but it’s worth it because otherwise I’d never wear the pants I buy more than once.
This is great. My daughter deserves nice clothes too. We are working on the health issues, sports, eating right, etc. but we need clothes. Moms of skinny kids don’t get it and will not ever understand. People come in different shapes and sizes for many different reasons.
If your dog loves the cat’s food then you will have to seperate the feeding. Let your mother know that just leaving food out all day can lead to obesity in both animals, which in turn can cause health problems. Feed the dog and cat in seperate rooms and leave the food down for 15-30 min. If they don’t want to eat then by the next feeding they will. They will soon learn that they need to eat when it is provided and by seperating them there will be no way the dog will eat the cat’s food. I have two dogs that love the cat’s food more than theirs, so what I do is put the cat’s food up higher than the dogs can reach. The cat can climb up and get to her food and the dogs have no choice but to eat theirs. I don’t know if that would work in your situation because of your mother, but it is also worth a try.
