PiscesPlea Deal Offered to 8-Year-Old Who Killed Father
A plea deal has been offered to the 8-year-old Arizona boy accused of killing his father and another adult male, according to a filing posted on the court's web site.
Prosecutors recently moved to drop the two-counts of first-degree murder, but the boy's defense attorney argued that move would allow prosecutors to refile the charges when the boy was old enough to be tried in adult court.
County Attorney Criss Candelaria said the plea deal would "resolve all the charges in the juvenile court contingent on the results of the mental health evaluations."
The results of two mental health exams are still being determined and it is unknown if the boy is competent enough to stand trial.
The eight-year-old is back in custody after spending the Thanksgiving holiday with his mother and another hearing in the case is set for Monday, December 8.
