People.com: Barack Obama's beloved grandmother will be honored at a public memorial service in Honolulu on Friday.

Madelyn Dunham, whom Obama called "Toot" while growing up in Hawaii, died at age 86 on Nov. 3, the day before her grandson was elected to be the 44th President of the United States.

Obama is not expected at the service, which will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, according to the Borthwick Mortuary, the Associated Press reports.

The president-elect is scheduled to visit Hawaii sometime next month and is expected to honor his grandmother then.

Dunham's husband, Stanley Dunham, who fought in World War II, was buried at the cemetery following his death in 1992, according to AP.
