The World's Fastest Turkey Recipe

We've got a quick recipe for moms who hate to cook even more than turkeys hate getting cooked.

turkey

Here are some fast and easy things you can do to ensure a great meal.

1. Spice up your bird: Grind up your favorite herbs (sage, rosemary, parsley, etc) and mix them with one stick of room temperature butter. Then, rub the herb butter all over the turkey ... make sure to rub some under the skin. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

2. Cook your bird according to its weight: The average turkey weighs 14-18 lbs and should be cooked about four hours. To check if it's done, first wiggle the leg, it should move fairly freely and not be stiff. Then, cut about 1" deep into the bird between its leg and thigh, and if the juices run clear, you're all set.

3. Remove the bird from the oven, cover it with foil, and let it rest for 15 minutes. Letting it rest not only allows it to cook for a little longer, but also during this time the turkey absorbs all the juices it lost during the cooking process. Resting = a moist bird.

4. Be safe. Choking is prevalent on any massive-consumption holiday, and you can never be too careful. Check out some safety tips and how to do the Heimlich maneuver on ehow.com.

My Grandma gave me her turkey recipe last year. Mix together oil, Beaumonde, MSG, salt, paprika, garlic powder and pepper and rub all over the turkey. Then put it in a pan and then slide the pan into a paper bag with the breast down. At the last hour take the bird out and turn it breast side up (this is so hard!). Baste and bake one more hour. It is so GOOD and moist!!!!
