Women Show Pity for Casey Anthony with Cash

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Why would anyone in their right mind give money to an accused child-killer?

Casey Anthony has hit rock bottom. The 22-year-old currently sits in a tiny cell in the Orange County Jail in Florida accused of murder. Many are already convinced Anthony is guilty of fatally chloroforming her three-year-old daughter Caylee, stashing the body in the trunk of her car and then callously partying at a local bar. Things don't look good.

Yet there are a few people, mostly women, who've taken pity on Anthony and are sending her money, to be deposited directly into her jail Inmate Money Account. The account can only be used at the jail commissary -- essentially a canteen for items not supplied by the prison.

So far a total of four women have been moved by Anthony's story enough to contribute. For the most part, the connection between Anthony and the women remain a mystery and is likely to remain so. "We do not seek out the relationship between the contributor and the inmate," Orange County Corrections Public Information Officer Allen Moore told momlogic. Moore isn't surprised, however, that Casey is receiving donations. "Obviously if there had not been the intense media coverage for this case, strangers wouldn't have sent money."

One of these so-called strangers is Michelle St. Claire of Spring Valley, California. She sent the accused mom murderer a donation of $75.00. In an exclusive interview with momlogic, the 39-year-old St. Claire defended her decision to come to the aid of the incarcerated mother.

"I'm a firm believer that you're innocent until you've been proven guilty," says St. Claire, a licensed private investigator. "This is a 22-year-old girl whose life is over. If 75 dollars will buy her some freakin' cocoa lotion, then what's the big deal?"

And, for the most part, standard items are all Casey has been buying. Her first purchases in the prison included: shampoo, hair ties, envelopes and stamps, a washcloth, a sports bra and underwear.

Anthony cannot, as CNN correspondent Nancy Grace erroneously reported, use the money to buy, "lingerie, high-end luxury items, like shrimp cocktails." Unless you count ear plugs or Spam in a Pouch as "splurges," the commissary's offerings consist of only the essentials.

Given the small amount of money St. Claire donated, she is baffled the way the media has been reacting to what she feels is an act of "compassion."

But psychoanalyst Dr. Bethany Marshall is suspect of anyone reaching out to Anthony. "They've identified with her in some way," says Dr. Marshall. "Either they've been abused by a mother, they've abused their own children, maybe they're drug addicts and neglected their own children, they know what it's like to be put in jail."

St. Claire, a childless woman, who has never been incarcerated, thinks Marshall's explanation is laughable.

"I don't necessarily think she's innocent," she says. "I think she was stupid. But I try to be a forgiving person. You never know when you're going to need to be forgiven for something. She's already been tried and convicted. I think educated, healthy people sometimes do reckless things in desperation. She wanted to get a break and something tragic happened."

In the end, St. Claire wonders why people are so judgmental of such a small gesture. "It's not like I sent Casey defense money."

Perhaps you have misread what was written—they had all the facts, the ones that will be used in Casey’s upcoming trial….and clearly those are enough to implicate Casey Anthony in the death of her daughter. They clearly don’t need any more facts, including a body. All those facts that were presented, were enough to indict Casey. We are not wrong for agreeing with the courts judgment, since clearly there is a possibility that she is guilty and that will be determined when all those facts are presented in court.

Any one who gives any money to this child killer is just as sick as Casey and Cindy Anthony are. It is completely insane! Money should be going to Equesearch not a killer! And Cindy Anthony is an idiot.. she looks like an idiot defending Casey.. the world knows Casey killed Caylee. No wonder why Casey is such a horrible person, she steals from her grandparents, family and friends because she knows that her mother will always be there to kiss her butt.

I understand, Sandra. It’s just that there are facts currently in evidence that lead to conclusions, but that doesn’t constitute “all facts.” I sure wish it did, though, because it means by now the little girl would have been found, and that’s what bothers me terribly. I wish like anything that they DID have all the facts, and I hope that by the time this wraps up, they will. You probably feel the same way. I know it’s upsetting.

I have been watching this story since day one, and can’t believe there are people out there who feel sorry for Casey!!!!! They should donate money where it’s needed like to the search teams that are looking for Caylee.I wouldn’t give Casey a drink of water ifshe was dying for it.She don’t deserve anything but being up close and personal with the other inmates!!!!

First off if you don’t like Nancy Grace then do this DON’T WATCH. If you have a problem when someone wants to get to the point of the conversation rather than the babble then that’s you. As for the normal people that see a true person for who they are lets just say DON’T HATE CONGRADULATE!! Nancy is real person, yes she is intense but that is what happens when you’re passionate about what you do. Love ya Nancy Grace keep up the awesome job your doing. As for Casey & her mother did not get along & there was no trust there so why she says she trust her now, makes no sense to me. Something is up with that family & that is correct WAKE UP!!! Casey is a low person and how she can live each day knowing what she did is beyond me. The truth will come out! Wasn’t it funny when her attorney was talking she didn’t cry until he said she was someone’s daughter when it was about her not her daughter. She is unbelievable.

you know this whole situation makes me very sad! I have children myself and i cannot ever even think of hurting them… what casey did to little caylee has no name! she is more thn a monster! if that baby was a bother to her she could of gave her to her parents or to someone who can provide her love and a family …. casey thinks the world rebvolves around her and it doesn’t. one day she will face her little daughter and God will shut the doors of heaven and send her straight to hell.to be honest i dont know how she can smile and act like nothing is happening.her parents really need to start concentrating on little casey and where her body could be at instead of protecting the monster casey!!! if i had her infront of me i will beat the truth out of her. thats what they need to do to her in jail. she deserves the same treatment she gave little caylee,,,i think she should grow up for once in her life and start talking… everyone already knows shes dead and for the baby sake she should talk so she can have a proper funeral.this really brakes my heart///not a day goes by that i dont think of her.one thing i dont understand is why people like casey are blessed with children.its so sad because the one person who little caylee looked up to was casey and little did she know that she died in the hands of casey. I have so much anger inside and i will never understand on how she could do such a thing. she planned it all out..the searches and time she took to search online on how to kill her daughter …it leaves me speechless. then we have the grandparents who are living in lala land… it must be so hard for them but they really need to focus on little caylee… and people should really stop sending that murder money!

It seems to me people are allowed to express their opinions here.

What I mean is, if somebody has a problem with Nancy Grace, it’s OK for them to say so without rebuke. OK, with minimal rebuke, maybe. I happen to agree with Liz, but again, it’s an opinion.

What makes her guilty is the lying game. A terrible thing happened. Accident or not. What’s malicious is the hiding, concealing and lying about what happened to her innocent flesh and blood…baby. That she thought so little of her daughter… and only cares about herself… Protecting herself… Crying for herself. Why not send this money to the searchers that are searching for Caylee, for a bottle of water? I can think of many other useful purposes, other than giving money to a lying baby-killer.

why don’t these women donate to more worthy charities, how about their local battered womens or abused childrens charities or even a local food pantry since the holidays are coming up. Or if they are hell bent on helping Casey out why not send the money to TES or the her so called friend Amy who was robbed by Casey. Her basic needs are given to her and she should NOT have cocoa butter and what not. Those things can wait until after her court case, if she is innocent and let free. These women are MESSED up themselves…

Thx, Rachelemybelle… WHile this is about Caylee, Nancy Grace makes it her business. If she is going to do that, then she needs to behave appropriately… She should not behave like she is in the courtroom, screaming things like YES/NO!!!!!! And she should be respectful and not like a tabloid reporter, just for ratings. I, for one, feel like I can see right through her. But, she sure does have a following. I just don’t get it. But, then again, I’m not fond of Dr. Laura and Judge Judy either. Rant rant rant.. judge judge judge.. rude rude rude…. my 2 cents

one huge thing that can brake the case if they force her to take a liedetector test… i think somethings should be mandatory on some cases… and it should be out of her attorneys hands… casey is a muderer and people should stop pampering her.

I believe you are innocent until proven guilty. And forgiveness also. God says if you cannot forgive, then how can I forgive you. It seems to me that all of you have found her guilty. Shame on you. She has not yet gone to trial. And I don’t think you will all be on the juryl.

Thanks, 007! I live in Atlanta and I have a close friend who’s a judge here and has been for 26 years; he’s friendly with Ms. Grace. And my best friend was in a class she taught when he was in college. That means nothing except that neither friend has related any stories of a shrieking harpy, yet her delivery on television suggests otherwise. And that in turn compromises her professionalism and, far worse, her conviction, which is what I do admire about her. I do think she’s a sincere advocate for missing and murdered children; I just think it the message would be better conveyed if she were to conduct herself in a manner conducive to a professional in the media as well as in law.

I am shocked at anyone that sends money to Casey for the simple fact that she waited 31 days and probably would have never reported Caylee missing and She WILL NOT TELL THE TRUTH. If she did she would not have so many haters and maybe not be in jail. IMO The St. Claire lady probably had a child situation in the past No telling what she is hiding???? I agree with Show Compassion for Caylee
- Casey should talk

I find it strange for somebody to stick money in a jail account when they don’t even know the person; I wonder if this is a common occurrence in such high-profile cases?

i think its so easy to talk about forgiving her if you prob never lost a child … its one thing if shes so sorry for the death of her daughter but she isnt instead she playing games… we arent the ones that have to forgive her ..inorder to get forgiveness u have to ask for it and thats something she will never do.
