Women Show Pity for Casey Anthony with Cash

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Why would anyone in their right mind give money to an accused child-killer?

Casey Anthony has hit rock bottom. The 22-year-old currently sits in a tiny cell in the Orange County Jail in Florida accused of murder. Many are already convinced Anthony is guilty of fatally chloroforming her three-year-old daughter Caylee, stashing the body in the trunk of her car and then callously partying at a local bar. Things don't look good.

Yet there are a few people, mostly women, who've taken pity on Anthony and are sending her money, to be deposited directly into her jail Inmate Money Account. The account can only be used at the jail commissary -- essentially a canteen for items not supplied by the prison.

So far a total of four women have been moved by Anthony's story enough to contribute. For the most part, the connection between Anthony and the women remain a mystery and is likely to remain so. "We do not seek out the relationship between the contributor and the inmate," Orange County Corrections Public Information Officer Allen Moore told momlogic. Moore isn't surprised, however, that Casey is receiving donations. "Obviously if there had not been the intense media coverage for this case, strangers wouldn't have sent money."

One of these so-called strangers is Michelle St. Claire of Spring Valley, California. She sent the accused mom murderer a donation of $75.00. In an exclusive interview with momlogic, the 39-year-old St. Claire defended her decision to come to the aid of the incarcerated mother.

"I'm a firm believer that you're innocent until you've been proven guilty," says St. Claire, a licensed private investigator. "This is a 22-year-old girl whose life is over. If 75 dollars will buy her some freakin' cocoa lotion, then what's the big deal?"

And, for the most part, standard items are all Casey has been buying. Her first purchases in the prison included: shampoo, hair ties, envelopes and stamps, a washcloth, a sports bra and underwear.

Anthony cannot, as CNN correspondent Nancy Grace erroneously reported, use the money to buy, "lingerie, high-end luxury items, like shrimp cocktails." Unless you count ear plugs or Spam in a Pouch as "splurges," the commissary's offerings consist of only the essentials.

Given the small amount of money St. Claire donated, she is baffled the way the media has been reacting to what she feels is an act of "compassion."

But psychoanalyst Dr. Bethany Marshall is suspect of anyone reaching out to Anthony. "They've identified with her in some way," says Dr. Marshall. "Either they've been abused by a mother, they've abused their own children, maybe they're drug addicts and neglected their own children, they know what it's like to be put in jail."

St. Claire, a childless woman, who has never been incarcerated, thinks Marshall's explanation is laughable.

"I don't necessarily think she's innocent," she says. "I think she was stupid. But I try to be a forgiving person. You never know when you're going to need to be forgiven for something. She's already been tried and convicted. I think educated, healthy people sometimes do reckless things in desperation. She wanted to get a break and something tragic happened."

In the end, St. Claire wonders why people are so judgmental of such a small gesture. "It's not like I sent Casey defense money."

If she wanted a break, all she had to do was drive to her mother’s house and ask her mother to help. To take the baby for a few days. We have all been there. Those times when everything and everyone is coming at you from all sides at once. You feel like you need to get out and blow off some steam. If she had asked her mother for help, her daughter would be alive now and she wouldn’t be in this mess.

Love where Ms. St. Claire says “her life is over… not in the way her daughter’s life is NOW OVER. And St. Claire says she tries to be a forgiving person… so which act are you forgiving, the murder, or the numerous acts of theft Casey comitted from lets’s see her friends, parents and oh yes grandparents in an assisted living facility! The list goes on. Is she going to send her money for every infraction she forgives?? Lastly, St. Claire says it’s an act of compassion, then I assume she will be broke quick, as there are so many animal causes and charities she should be compassionate about, how in the world did she choose an inmate to be compassionate about, does she send donations to all inmates as an act of compassion or does this one go to her soul for some odd reason!!?? If she can’t figure out what’s the big deal, then maybe she should ask herself why she is in the minority on this act in the whole of the human race!!!

I work hard for my money. I can not understand how anybody would want to give their hard earned money to someone who is accused of murdering her child. My sympathy goes to Caylee, not Casey. In this poor economy, many people are out of work and needing food and shelter. Casey has food and shelter. Why feel sorry for her? If I had any extra money, I’d donate it to charities or give it to people who are hungry, cold and living in their cars or on the street.

About the money: I had heard it reported that when she was jailed George Anthony had deposited $50.00 into her account. If you look at the cost of the items in the commissary, and the fact that they provide her with meals, then she wouldn’t need much more and that would have been sufficient, although if you look her first order was $69.71. Maybe without the extra $250. from outsiders she wouldn’t have been able to get the sports bra or tube socks, how tragic. I agree with everyone that these people that are sending Casey the money could use thier money for better purposes, and are sorry to see that this is how they have chosen to allocate thier funds. To many of us it seems as sensless as to what may (and sadly most likely) has/have happened to Caylee, and Caseys actions before and after. To me personally it is all so unimaginable…all of it…if what is said about the amount of time Casey spent texting, and talking on her cell phone, poor Caylee never had much of a Mother to begin with. It is tragically a very sad situation, she doesn’t sound like she wanted to be a Mom, wasn’t prepared to be a Mom, and didn’t enjoy being a Mom, and when it all became to overwhelming instead of being able to “get help” in any normal or mentally well way, she sickly, and perversly, took matters into her own hands…literally. This Sat. is the big search with Tim Miller, and if Caylee is out there my prayers are they find her remains, and can put her to rest, for the sake of her family and friends. Because this isn’t all about Casey, this beautiful child obviously had other relatives that adored her, and friends that miss her sweet little smile, and as much as our hearts break for this little girl that is a stranger to us, think of the pain they must be enduring. Instead of money for Casey, lets send up prayers for the family and friends, and for the searchers this weekend. May Caylee rest in peace.

Just taking a break from quilting the custom quilt I’m making for sweet dear Casey. It’s embroidered with “Cell Sweet Cell”! It makes me sick to think that anyone would send her anything! We’re spending money to house her, defend her and search for her precious baby. She has no regard for her own child, her family or anyone else except Casey. Innocent until proven guilty? She had her chance for forgiveness…. I would be happy to donate money to get someone in there to do some ‘Water Boarding” on her! Hope this is the weekend they find Caylee.

I have one question for Michelle St.Clair—why not bargain with Casey? Send her money in exchange for information on Caylee’s whereabouts? What a moron!!!

I think she needs to be responsible for herself,,, probably never has had to be. If she has no money then so be it. I’m sure her parents/brother will be willing to help her if need be.

I’m really freaked by the similarities between Casey and Susan Smith http://crime.about.com/od/murder/a/susan_smith.htm The whole sequence of events before they killed their children is practically the same. The sexual free-for-all is the same. The obsession with one particular boyfriend at the time is the same. The initial lying and deceit… Smith carried on a sexual relationship with her step-father into adulthood, had refused to press charges against him earlier. I suspect it was all done so as not to upset the proverbial familial apple cart. Her mother was much more worried about the wealthy family’s reputation than about protecting her daughter from that pervert of a step-father. Hm, I was very impressed by how eagerly Cindy and George gave their DNA samples while their son did not. But…wait a minute…don’t most older married men these days indulge in permanent birth control? Can you spell vasectomy, dear children? Very good! So dear, sweet, harmless, smiling George could have exploited his daughter to his heart’s content, and never have had to worry about leaving any permanent evidence behind in the form of a baby. And Casey could have found herself in the same circle of hell Susan Smith was living. Recently there was a clip, on 9wftv, of a happy George emerging from a meeting with his daughter, saying everything would be fine! What did Casey tell him? Don’t worry, Dad, I will never tell what you’ve been doing with me since I was a teen?

We all realize that what casey anthony did effected the whole UNITED STATES!!she wanted attention…… well she got it! I can never understand how someone can hurt or kill someone neverless a child! my heart goes out to caylee…shes was so inocent and pure. This whole situation is very heart broken. What I don’t understand is how she keeps on smiling and lying to the whole world…this must be very hard for little caylees grandparents.I don’t know what people get out of hurting children… she needs to stay in jail for the rest of her life! and they should decline from her recieving any money what so ever. she doesnt deserve special treatments or any what so ever. the laws should really change on cases like these…. it is bothering that noone has found her and the one person who knows doesn’t say anything. what a monster….one day she will face God…and justice will be given to little caylee… in regards to nancy grace>>>> shes is a great reporter! and i learned to love her ! she just speaks the truth ! i really hope they fins the baby and close this painful chapter that is affecting the world.

It is my opinion that ANYONE who sends money to Casey Anthony because they feel sorry for her, is like spitting in Caylee Anthony’s face! It is a mockery of this poor child’s (most certain) tragic death and condoning the person who killed her……..accidental or intentional is beyond the point at this point in time! Casey had her freedom, had the ability to obtaina job and could have bought anything she wanted……she gave up those rights when she killed her daughter. Being judgemental, darn right I am, but I wouldn’t want to be facing the “ultimate jude” if I were her! Casey will be judged by a jury, society, and everyone else for the rest of her life so she might as well get used to it. But FINALLY……she will be judged by God. Our God is a forgiving God, but one has to be able to ask for forgiveness (and mean it) and repent……casey anthony doesn’t have it in her!!! Casey’s next “hot body” contest will be in a very “hot” place!

I didn’t realize it was guilty until proven innocent. Kind of like the Ramsey’s - they were guilty of killing Jon-Benet, right? Oh I forgot, someone forgot check into all the evidence, and miraculously, they now have new information, etc to clear the family. Tell that to Patsy Ramseys face - oops - my mistake- can’t do that now either. Hope those police feel good about it.

Believing that the Ramsey’s never committed the crime is for those that still believe in the toothfairy! Just because they were never convicted, doesn’t mean they didn’t commit the crime. People get away with murder all the time. The police botched the scene and that is why the Ramsey’s were never able to be convicted. Patsy is answering for her crime in heaven or in hell.

innocent until proven guilty is the term used in a court of law…. guilty until proven innocent is the term used by society when there is a case of guilt as obvious as this one.
