Women Show Pity for Casey Anthony with Cash

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Why would anyone in their right mind give money to an accused child-killer?

Casey Anthony has hit rock bottom. The 22-year-old currently sits in a tiny cell in the Orange County Jail in Florida accused of murder. Many are already convinced Anthony is guilty of fatally chloroforming her three-year-old daughter Caylee, stashing the body in the trunk of her car and then callously partying at a local bar. Things don't look good.

Yet there are a few people, mostly women, who've taken pity on Anthony and are sending her money, to be deposited directly into her jail Inmate Money Account. The account can only be used at the jail commissary -- essentially a canteen for items not supplied by the prison.

So far a total of four women have been moved by Anthony's story enough to contribute. For the most part, the connection between Anthony and the women remain a mystery and is likely to remain so. "We do not seek out the relationship between the contributor and the inmate," Orange County Corrections Public Information Officer Allen Moore told momlogic. Moore isn't surprised, however, that Casey is receiving donations. "Obviously if there had not been the intense media coverage for this case, strangers wouldn't have sent money."

One of these so-called strangers is Michelle St. Claire of Spring Valley, California. She sent the accused mom murderer a donation of $75.00. In an exclusive interview with momlogic, the 39-year-old St. Claire defended her decision to come to the aid of the incarcerated mother.

"I'm a firm believer that you're innocent until you've been proven guilty," says St. Claire, a licensed private investigator. "This is a 22-year-old girl whose life is over. If 75 dollars will buy her some freakin' cocoa lotion, then what's the big deal?"

And, for the most part, standard items are all Casey has been buying. Her first purchases in the prison included: shampoo, hair ties, envelopes and stamps, a washcloth, a sports bra and underwear.

Anthony cannot, as CNN correspondent Nancy Grace erroneously reported, use the money to buy, "lingerie, high-end luxury items, like shrimp cocktails." Unless you count ear plugs or Spam in a Pouch as "splurges," the commissary's offerings consist of only the essentials.

Given the small amount of money St. Claire donated, she is baffled the way the media has been reacting to what she feels is an act of "compassion."

But psychoanalyst Dr. Bethany Marshall is suspect of anyone reaching out to Anthony. "They've identified with her in some way," says Dr. Marshall. "Either they've been abused by a mother, they've abused their own children, maybe they're drug addicts and neglected their own children, they know what it's like to be put in jail."

St. Claire, a childless woman, who has never been incarcerated, thinks Marshall's explanation is laughable.

"I don't necessarily think she's innocent," she says. "I think she was stupid. But I try to be a forgiving person. You never know when you're going to need to be forgiven for something. She's already been tried and convicted. I think educated, healthy people sometimes do reckless things in desperation. She wanted to get a break and something tragic happened."

In the end, St. Claire wonders why people are so judgmental of such a small gesture. "It's not like I sent Casey defense money."

people invent alot of things. let not get our focus on an innocent man ” george anthony” u can clearly see he’s in alot of pain and he would do anything in the world to find little caylee… so please …. stop trying to make the focus on something else that not even a fact. the fact is that caylee is missing and casey knows where she is at… the fact is that she did something horrible to her daughter … i got molested when i was younger from my mothers husband…he molested me for 5 years and not once did i thik of hurting my babies…not once!

Casey Anthony is Satan is disguise. I doubt that God will condemn me for not falling to the lies and deception of Satan! I see Casey Anthony for who she really is……the devil. Casey however has alot to worry about……God will prevail.

mildred, you right, there are alot of people who go thru a rough life and never commit such a heinous act as to kill their child. So Casey doesn’t get an ounce of sympathy from me. Nor does Cindy! My problem with George is that althought he is definately the grieving grandfather, he knows what Casey did (or atleast has a good idea) and he is dishonoring Caylee but not coming forward. I believe he love Caylee more than life itself, but honor her life by putting the person behind bars that harmed her, whether it’s your child or not. She needs to pay for what she did to Caylee.

that is so true…. If casey anthony was innocent she would have talked like a second of knowing her child was missing not 30 days after and forced by her mother…. if she was innocent she would of lied!!!! please!!! people!!!! dont be blinded by this monster!God will never forgive her because inorder to recieve forgiveness u have to confess and ask for forgivness and thats something she will never do…casey anthony should really consider on doing things differently for once and stop the lies…her whole life has been a lie ….i don’t know what she gets off from lying…

These women are insane! What are they thinking? Let’s endorse the murder of a child - NOT!!! I feel more pity for the women that feel they need to support Casey than Casey herself.

I believe Nancy Grace has a reason to do what she does and that is to keep the people envolved so we don’t forget that there is a little girl missing and to keep pressure on so she won’t be forgotten. So please quit picking on someone whose only there to help with the finding of this little girl and getting justice for her little sole. Her mother could help with that and then maybe she could get compassion for what has been done but not until this little girl has been found. After all the lies this mother has told I don’t feel she deserves compassion, only her family who have been put thru this mess. They may have raised this girl but that doesn’t mean they did wrong, sometimes kids raised the same way by the same parents, one will go the different path, why we don’t know really why. They may never find her now as animals may have dragged the bones elsewhere where we may never know. Pray they do so they can put her sole to rest and may her mother be forever tortured with the fact she could of done something big and given the information up to find her so she could have a decent burial and her family could get closure for a little girl they loved so dearly.

Everyone sees things differently, as for me i would send her nothing. What mother would do the things that she has. If she had nothing to hide then why would she not help the authorities find her precious little girl. She deserves whatever she gets in the way of punishment, That poor little girl suffered at the hands of the one who was supposed to protect her from harm…

All I’m saying is that Casey acted, and lived almost exactly like a proven victim of incest, Susan Smith. By the way, dysfunction runs in families, generation after generation. That’s why it’s so important to get informed and seek professional help for yourself as early as possible if you come from such unfortunate circumstances. That is the only way to break this vicious cycle of inherited family pain. Yes, Caylee was the ultimate victim. But it cannot be said that someone who has been sexually abused is not a victim, too, their life marred, sometimes forever, by what they have had to endure. There are victims in every generation in families like that. Because their early experiences leave them with so little internal resources they often go on to create new victims of their own. Or they marry someone who continues the abuse of their person, messing up their kids inadvertently as those children get to stand by and watch the bad relationship. My own greatest time of trial came in my teens and early twenties. All the stored-up junk from a life-time of early trauma came bearing down on me. I knew very clearly then that I was NOT normal! It drove me to try and figure out what the hay was wrong with me. It got me interested in psychology. My good luck was that at least my mother had given me religion, and that I had made a decision for God at sixteen. If it hadn’t been for that I might have been just another heedless party animal like Casey. As it was, I clung to the Lord tenaciously. Later I joined recovery groups, read a lot of pop psychology on dysfunction, personal testimonies, too. Finally counseling, it should have come first, but the trust was not there for so long to open up to another human being in authority. Before judging, learn, read, find out how it works. True, every person reacts differently to whatever rot they have been handed. I remember now an early counselor telling me that. Kudos to the lady with the three babies who has never felt tempted to hurt her children, despite having endured five years of sexual abuse. Some of us have to practice vigilant self-awareness so as not to dump our anger and pain onto the next generation. God bless y’all.
