Women Show Pity for Casey Anthony with Cash

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Why would anyone in their right mind give money to an accused child-killer?

Casey Anthony has hit rock bottom. The 22-year-old currently sits in a tiny cell in the Orange County Jail in Florida accused of murder. Many are already convinced Anthony is guilty of fatally chloroforming her three-year-old daughter Caylee, stashing the body in the trunk of her car and then callously partying at a local bar. Things don't look good.

Yet there are a few people, mostly women, who've taken pity on Anthony and are sending her money, to be deposited directly into her jail Inmate Money Account. The account can only be used at the jail commissary -- essentially a canteen for items not supplied by the prison.

So far a total of four women have been moved by Anthony's story enough to contribute. For the most part, the connection between Anthony and the women remain a mystery and is likely to remain so. "We do not seek out the relationship between the contributor and the inmate," Orange County Corrections Public Information Officer Allen Moore told momlogic. Moore isn't surprised, however, that Casey is receiving donations. "Obviously if there had not been the intense media coverage for this case, strangers wouldn't have sent money."

One of these so-called strangers is Michelle St. Claire of Spring Valley, California. She sent the accused mom murderer a donation of $75.00. In an exclusive interview with momlogic, the 39-year-old St. Claire defended her decision to come to the aid of the incarcerated mother.

"I'm a firm believer that you're innocent until you've been proven guilty," says St. Claire, a licensed private investigator. "This is a 22-year-old girl whose life is over. If 75 dollars will buy her some freakin' cocoa lotion, then what's the big deal?"

And, for the most part, standard items are all Casey has been buying. Her first purchases in the prison included: shampoo, hair ties, envelopes and stamps, a washcloth, a sports bra and underwear.

Anthony cannot, as CNN correspondent Nancy Grace erroneously reported, use the money to buy, "lingerie, high-end luxury items, like shrimp cocktails." Unless you count ear plugs or Spam in a Pouch as "splurges," the commissary's offerings consist of only the essentials.

Given the small amount of money St. Claire donated, she is baffled the way the media has been reacting to what she feels is an act of "compassion."

But psychoanalyst Dr. Bethany Marshall is suspect of anyone reaching out to Anthony. "They've identified with her in some way," says Dr. Marshall. "Either they've been abused by a mother, they've abused their own children, maybe they're drug addicts and neglected their own children, they know what it's like to be put in jail."

St. Claire, a childless woman, who has never been incarcerated, thinks Marshall's explanation is laughable.

"I don't necessarily think she's innocent," she says. "I think she was stupid. But I try to be a forgiving person. You never know when you're going to need to be forgiven for something. She's already been tried and convicted. I think educated, healthy people sometimes do reckless things in desperation. She wanted to get a break and something tragic happened."

In the end, St. Claire wonders why people are so judgmental of such a small gesture. "It's not like I sent Casey defense money."

Martha, I watch NG all the time. Mostly b/c she is the only news anchor covering this story still. However, she does not need to be a b**** on national television to her guests that she brings on. She needs to quit cutting them off when they are making a statement, that’s just PLAIN RUDE. If someone doesn’t agree with her…she cuts them off, that’s just PLAIN RUDE. She “mocks” her guests, that’s just PLAIN RUDE. I used to like her but she has gotten more b**chy all the time. I only follow her right now b/c she is covering the Caylee story. otherwise, I’d cut her off when she starts being a b**ch to people like Tim Miller, her producers, Padilla, and all them people that are helping her with her ratings!! There are many news anchor (men and women) who cover stories greatly but without all the rudeness. My next comment is about the Anthony’s and your comment about their raising their daughter and it not being wrong. America is not focusing as much on the fact that it was “how” they raised such a monster, but that they have aided and abetted in continuing to cover her sorry a** with lies and not cooperating with LE to bring justice for Caylee. So yeah……they SHOULD be chasized for trying to protect the person that was responsible for protecting Caylee!!!!

For people from dysfunctional families it’s crucial to practice diligent self-awareness, self-care, and to have a good spiritual life. In other words, to put their trust in God, and to PRAY!

I work in a county jail. Believe me, the mother from hell will not do without if she has no money. Indigent inmates are given all the necessities, including underclothes and stamped envelopes. If her jail is the same as where I am employed, she CAN use the money in her account to have checks written for outside purchases such as newspapers, books and magazines. She can also have checks written from her account and send them to whomever she pleases. So maybe Ms St Claire is paying part of her legal fees! Don’t feel sorry for her, she chose to be there! She is manipulating those crazy people that are sending her money!

Do I think she is guilty? An emphatic YES! Do I fervantly believe in the right of all citizens in this amazing free country of ours to be considered Innocent until Proven Guilty - Another emphatic YES. Is it any of your or my or for that matter the media’s business at all who is putting what amount of $ into a person’t jailhouse account - absolutely NOT! Please Back off folks and demonstrate some class and restraint - You and I may feel, even think we know that she is guilty - but and this is the big but - she has the right to a fair trial by her unbiased peers and that is just the way Democracy works and is supposed to work. My heart and soul pain and my prayers go out to that little baby girl - I cringe thinking about what she may have gone through. But I also believe in Democracy - rest assured - the mother will get her day(s) in human court and if guilty, a forever sentence of paying penance.

I don’t understand the people who get so upset about someone having candy or mouthwash….even if that someone is in jail. Losing your freedom is mind- blowing. And she hasn’t been tried yet. I think shows like Nancy Grace should be ended. You are not going to get a fair trial with Nancy Grace spewing lies about you. She’s evil…

Have any of you people ever known anyone who has been in jail? Have any of you ever had your lives devastated by the legal system? Obviously not or you wouldn’t be making some of these ridiculous comments.

The legal system did not devastate her life….she did that all on her own.

losing yr freedom is mind blowing///whats mind blowing is killing a baby (little caylee) and going to jail and having people defend her……something like what u r doing… what I know is mind blowing is killing a little 2 year old girl and sitcking her in the trunk for days and clubing and acting like everything is okay…she deserves this and more for killing caylee and this is just the begining.

My guess for these donations is that we will soon be seeing “A Hand Written Thank You Letter From Casey Anthony” for sale on Ebay.

Makes you wonder if these women might do something to their children also. Even though they haven’t found a body yet, just common sense tells that she did something. Susan Smith put all three of her kids in a river because her boyfriend did not want kids, and cried on television to “bring my children back to me”. What sick and twisted people in this world. Of course all you have to do is claim you have some sort of mental disorder and get away with murder. Oh, I’m depressed, I’m bi-polar, every time you turn around there is a new disease that excuses people’s actions and let’s them get away with murder UNTIL they become well enough then they will be tryed for murder. If Casey ever gets away with this she should be fixed where can cannot re produce EVER again. How about poor Caylee send that money to the search team to look for her. She is the important one in this sick, twisted plot.

Susan Smith had (2) boys .. not (3) children .. and people need to realize, there is a good chance that this case will NOT go where it needs to. A “bumbling” attorney can get anyone off! Look at all the leaks in this case .. “someone” is trying to “fudge” this case. Sad .. but true. And if I HAD money to give, I surely would NOT give it to a KNOWN “theif”!!!

If these women want to give money away why not to someone who really needs it. My cousin and I work full time, she has three young children and we have NO money!!! We will probably have to sell our house to get ahead. What a waste!!!

Re: daz wiley’s comments. I am am sure the court case will go on without Nancy Grace’s input…lol. How funny. NG isn’t spewing lies, she is reporting on the case. The only person who was, and is, spewing lies has been Casey Anthony. You must have changed the channel part way through the program to have come to the assumptions that you di regarding any lies being told. Have I ever been in jail, no, because I would never commit a crime. I, do, however, have considerable experience with inmates and have visited many prisons, including SMU’s (Special Management Units) and Death Row. Regarding your comment: Have any of you ever had your lives devastated by the legal system? It is people like you who enable the kind of “victimization” attitude that avoids responsibility for actions. Devastated BY the legal system??? Who are you kidding? The people in prison, are there for a reason, because the evidence has shown that they were guilty of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. If they are devastated by the legal system, it is because of their own actions and they should avoid committing crimes in the first place.

Get a grip. If Casey had worked while living rent free with her parents she’d have enough to buy her own prison items, pay toward her atty. and donate to EquiSearch. Casey did not report her child’s missing and help police. Her actions and lack of actions put her where she is. Donate to some poor, good single mom or dad who got laid off, and is trying to find work, keep food and a roof over their kids’ heads, all of which Casey has for free. It is only Caylee that I feel or felt sorry for, not this whole evil conniving, family.

HEY LIZ,, NO NEED FOR NAME CALLING. CONTROLL FREAKS????? THIS BLOG IS FOR “OPINIONS”. EVERYONE HAS ONE. NO ONE IS TELLING ANYONE HOW TO SPEND THEIR MONEY(LIKE THEY WOULD LISTEN TO SOMEONE TELLING THEM HOW TO SPEND THEIR MONEY ANYWAY). ALSO GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY. SOUNDS LIKE THE “EVIDENCE” IS STACKED AGAINST HER.

Jen, this women “donating” money have a purpose for doing so, otherwise they would donate it anonymously. It is OUR business how Casey Anthony spends $$$$$ while in jail b/c most of what she gets is with TAX PAYERS DOLLARS! We aren’t expecting that anyone will listen to us about sending that monster money, but we can sure exercise our right to let them know what idiots they are just as they have a right to donate it. Stupidity doesn’t go unnoticed, that’s just part of life. Daz Wiley, by your comment at 2:55 I assume you’ve been in jail and therefore can relate to Monsters feelings???? Your right, alot of us can’t relate to her because we’ve never been in jail……why?????? because we don’t break the law or murder our kids! It’s called law abiding citizens and if you break the law…..you do the time. TLT, Cindy, Carol, sick to my stomach, ……excellent blogs!! Tammy, it doesn’t matter how many kids susan smith had….we all got the point of sick to my stomach’s comment! Way to change the subject like cindy A does! JS and Bella, good blogs too! Anyone who stands up for a child murderer is in my book, just as much as a nut.

I recently read a comment from a girl who knew Casey personally in Highschool. She said Casey, and her mother Cindy never got along. That feeds into my initial take on this story. Do you know what it’s like to have a psychologically abusive mother with bottomless ego needs, who feeds them at your expense?? Who, if she doesn’t criticize you, ignores you instead? For whom you are, and always will be, some sort of flawed, inferior specimen of human garbage? I get mad at Casey, like everyone else, but it’s too close to home. When the mother you had was no mother at all but pulling the emotional guts out of you instead, all your life and unknowingly, of course, because she was too sick to know otherwise, it’s so hard to watch her fussing over your baby, it hurts so much because she could never give that badly needed love and attention to you when you were a kid. When she adds to her care of your child the usual insults and put-downs towards you, it’s practically unbearable. I’m glad that in my own case I simply fled! Cindy did wrong by not loving her daughter as much as she loved her granddaughter, and by continuing to put Casey down. Yes, she said, Caylee was wonderful but she was a MISTAKE just the same, CASEY’S mistake! What a thing to say! Maybe Casey wanted to ‘undo’ that mistake, hm? Apparently she also declared Casey an unfit mother, wanting to take over with Caylee altogether. She also ignored Casey’s initial wish to have the baby adopted. To me it indicates that Casey had enough self-knowledge to have done the right thing, gotten the baby out of that sick family environment. Caylee would still be alive and thriving today if Cindy had honored Casey’s wish. Well, if Casey’s intent was to punish her mother Cindy, pay her back for ignoring her, neglecting her, putting her down all the time, and destroying her self-esteem, and possibly failing to protect her from incest, she’s done a fine job of it, even at her own expense. There is no getting away from the fact that this whole family is VERY sick!
