Edna Parker, the world's oldest person for the past year, died on Wednesday in Indiana. She was 115 years and 220 days old.

Edna was born on April 20, 1893 in Indiana's Morgan County and was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the oldest person in the world after Yone Minagawa died in Japan, in 2007. Edna has been a widow since 1939 when her husband died of a heart attack and lived by herself until she was 100-years-old.

When asked what the secret to a long life is, Edna Parker's only advice was for more education. Edna never drank or smoked and led an active lifestyle and was physically fit. Don Parker, Edna's grandson said he doesn't know why his grandmother lived such a long life, but says she was never a worrier and was always a thin person.

The title of world's oldest person now goes to Maria de Jesus of Portugal who is 115.
