Republican congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen received a call from President-elect Barack Obama, and dismissed it as a prank call!

Obama called at 1 p.m. to congratulate her on her re-election and to say that he was looking forward to working with her as a member of the House of Foreign Affairs committee. The phone call lasted about a minute before Ros-Lehtinen hung up on him.

"I thought it was one of the radio stations in South Florida playing an incredible, elaborate, terrific prank on me," said Ros-Lehtinen. "They got Fidel Castro to go along. They've gotten Hugo Chavez and others to fall for their tricks. I said, 'Oh, no, I won't be punked."'

Then Rahm Emanuel, Obama's soon-to-be chief of staff, called the congresswoman to let her know it wasn't a joke. Ros-Lehtinen hung up on him too!

It was only when the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Howard Berman, called was she persuaded Obama wanted to talk to her.

The two did finally speak despite the misunderstanding.

"You are either very gracious to reach out in such a bipartisan manner or had run out of folks to call if you are truly calling me and Saturday Night Live could use a good Obama impersonator like you," Ros-Lehtinen joked with the president-elect.
