Peter Falk's daughter has filed court documents seeking conservatorship of her 81-year-old father.
She says that the Emmy-winning actor suffers from Alzheimer's disease and no longer recognizes people.
The petition states that Falk lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and had hip surgery requiring constant care.
A hearing has been set for late January.
Falk is known for his award-winning role in the television series "Columbo" and his two Academy Award nominations.
