People.com: Give us another J!

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of Tontitown, Ark., had their eighteenth child Thursday - Jordyn-Grace Makiya, who joins the rest of her J-named siblings.

Jordyn-Grace was born via C-section at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, weeks before her due date of Jan. 1. She weighed in at 7 lbs, 3 oz and was 20 inches long.

"Mother and baby are resting and doing well," says a rep for the Duggar family, whose crowded house is featured on the TLC network show 17 Kids & Counting.

The newest Duggar has a lot of names to keep straight.

The other kids - who range in age from 20 years to 17 months - are Joshua (who married Anna Keller in September and says he is looking forward to the "blessing of children" of his own), twins John-David and Jana, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, twins Jeremiah and Jedidiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah and Jennifer.

Their parents married when Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19. (Her mother had to officially sign permission.) After birth-control pills were blamed for a miscarriage, the couple decided to throw them out. They've had a new baby approximately every 18 months since.

"What really works for me is swaddling a baby and snuggling up," Michelle told PEOPLE in an interview last year. "I love that time of just bonding and nursing a little baby. And, with a new baby, I realize that I don't need as much sleep as I used to think I did. You learn. This time goes by so quickly. I look at my older children and wonder where the time went."

A special on Jordyn-Grace's birth will air Dec. 22 at 10 p.m. on TLC.

Have you seen the show? Their house is amazing and the children are so well behaved and polite. They really are wonderful parents. As long as they are supporting their own children they can have as many as they like. It’s the parents that have children and expect society to raise them (free health care, free and reduced lunches, free daycare, free housing, food stamps, etc…) that I have a problem with.

The DUGGER family, as exemplified on the TLC show, is an amazing family. They have raised God fearing, respectful and unselfish children. I don’t see them as “takers” looking for anything from society. They are the “givers” of our generation and are a great role model for young families. I hope that each of their children go about raising their children with the same dedication to family, moral values and energy as their parents. Congratulation to the DUGGER family.

First, TLC and sponsers pay a great amount of money to this family. They paid not a dime for that new home, the show etc did. If you look up on their hometown county, property tax site, you will see that the parent company for TLC, holds the deed. Now, The father, who appears very controlling, did work up to a point, then invested his money in several big buildings, which he divided into smaller storage areas and he rents them out. They have the right to have as many children that they want and raise them how they want but I still am are confused by their life style. On their trip to New York, you quickley realized that they know they are celeberties. They even hand out a pre-printed picture of their family and sign autographs. Although the people of their small town don’t care for them..

The plant was not put together so you can reproduce like rabbits. Quit using up all of the resources just because you cannot seem to be smart enough to use birth control. People in your area are suffing with you aquiring all the resources that your family does. Also, your area will suffer in the future due to needing to hire all of your offspring so they can support thamselves, other people who know when to close their legs or slap on a condom will wind up being jobless and homeless due to you inconsideration. THE DUGGERS ARE NOT A FAMILY, THEY ARE A CULT. THIS IS NOT A BLESSING THIS IS A DISASTER. Your children are going to think that this is normal, when in fact it is disgusting.

I wonder if she realizes that by the time she’s 50 her uterus is going to fall out! Having this many children at her age is SICK. Actually they are Penecostal, but it’s not a church thing. If you watch that special coming up, you’ll see that the older kids actually take care of the smaller children. Michelle just pops them out, nurses them for a while then gets knocked up again. When God said, go forth, be fruitful and multiply, He DID NOT mean for Jim and Michelle Dugger to populate the earth alone. These people are nothing but attention seekers and how sad for those 17 kids that are forced into caring for younger siblings cause Mom can’t keep her panties on. What a sorry mess these people are!

It’s not easy to keep a family. It’s easier to live by yourself and not care about anyone. But there is little love in such a life. These people will become great as they have to take care of each other or they would already be scattered. Why does such goodness make you upset? It’s judgment and jealousy. You get nasty if cheated. Try it comparing salaries! We all wish to receive lots of love from many people. The people in this family love each other. All family members are all in the same picture! I should have that! Few of us manage to take care of little more than ourselves even though we know it’s more to life then just me. Some even live to take everything they can get their hands on, even using others for their own benefit. In a family like this you grow up having to care for others and learn that life is not just about you. Families that stick together are the cornerstone for a better world. This family is a very big cornerstone! Be happy for them and the world!

“They have raised God fearing, respectful and unselfish children. I don’t see them as “takers” looking for anything from society. They are the “givers” of our generation and are a great role model for young families.” FYI Donna, having babies after babies like rabits has nothing to do with “God fearing, respectful, and unselfish children”. Any criminal have the ability to reproduce and that does not make them respectful and unselfish. You are not making any sense. The Duggar’s family is not a taker only if they are providing for all their children on their own without any government help or donation. Good for them if they can afford their family independently. If they are not able to afford their family on their own, then they are leechers. They are being irresponsible and selfish for living off someone else’s tax money, and they need to STOP having kids. ( I sure have a say if they are using MY tax dollar without my consent!)

i heard that this family lives off taxes money from the government whish makes more sense since the mom doesnt work, i have no problem with their family i mean the kids are VERY well behaved but i dont have kids and i dont want to for a while because i know i dont have enough money to support one with my boyfriend but its wrong how our money its going to this people to live with their luxuries im sure TLC doesnt pay for EVERYTHING like their busses, college, all the laundrys, etc.. so i feel they need to STOP

Observation: Most of those objecting can’t spell. From what I’ve seen and read of the family, they are raising children anyone would be proud to call their own. I’m sorry for those jealous of a mom who can stay home and raise her own children. Angela

I love reading the comment from Jim who cannot spell disgusting or Arkansas yet tries to insult people from Arkansas or as he calls it Arkansa. How embarrassing it must be to Jim.
