The Iraqi journalist who infamously threw a shoe at President Bush at a recent news conference has asked for a pardon, according to a spokesman for Iraq's prime minister.

The journalist, al-Maliki, describes his behavior as an "ugly act" and asks for the Prime Minister's forgiveness.

"It is too late to now to regret the big and ugly act that I perpetrated," he wrote.

al-Maliki remains in custody while he awaits his judgment.

I don’t think that it’s Bush’s place to pardon this guy. That should be decided by the Iraqi President. With that said, I heard that this guy has lost more than one family member in this war since we entered Iraq. Not that that is an excuse for his behavior. But still, this guy could have chosen to go a much more violent route and he didn’t. So I say that even though it’s not Bush’s place to pardon him, he should forgive the act.
