Errands kept moms behind the wheel for a total of 405 hours in 2008, according to a survey by MotherProof.com. That's equivalent to 17 days!

The survey also shows that only 35 percent of moms typically know in advance that they will be spending the day in their cars.

"The reality for today's busy families is that so much of our 'quality family time' is spent on the road," said Kristin Varela, head mom at MotherProof.com. "That may seem unfortunate, but it's not so bad if families make the most of it - sometimes it's the only time we have together as a family all day."
