A crying O.J. Simpson was sentenced by a Las Vegas judge to some serious time in the slammer for kidnapping and robbery charges stemming from an incident at a local hotel.

At his sentencing hearing this morning, the disgraced footballer says he didn't mean to steal from anybody, saying he was "sorry and confused." He then went on a rambling 5-minute speech saying "I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," adding "I am apologetic to the people of Nevada. ... When I came here, I came here for a wedding. I didn't come to reclaim property."

Judge Jackie Glass had no sympathy for Simpson, sentencing him to up to 16 years behind bars. There is a possibility of parole after five years. His co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart received a similar sentence.

Simpson was acquitted of murder in 1995 for the gruesome killings of his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson has four children -- his daughter Aaren drowned in the family's swimming pool in 1979, just shy of her second birthday.
