School Dealing With Coach Rape Allegations

The Boston Channel: Although school is closed for the winter break, counselors were on hand Monday for students dealing with rape allegations against Walpole High School's popular football coach.
"He was very well-liked and many people are just mystified as to how this could happen," Walpole School Superintendent Lincoln Lynch said.
Daniel Villa, 44, remains in custody in Tucson, Ariz., but will be returning to Massachusetts to face charges of three counts of rape of a child over 14 and three counts of enticing a minor, police said.
He allegedly left inappropriate text messages on a female student's cell phone.
The accused is a former New England Patriots offensive lineman who until recently was athletic director and head football coach at Walpole High. He resigned last week when the school superintendent confronted him about allegations of criminal misconduct and put him on paid administrative leave.
He returned to his native Arizona, but surrendered to police after learning they were searching for him in connection with the Massachusetts charges.
"There's no reason to believe it's gone beyond one victim, but that's again why we open up our counselors, that if anyone has been a victim they can come forward," Lynch said.
He said several dozen had already shown up.
Villa coached a winning football team and also taught Spanish and math until his resignation.
