Sex Rocks at Age 34

Despite the old adage that women lose their sexy in their thirties, a new poll says that's right when the fun begins.

According to 1,031 women, sex is hottest at age 34, according to the results of a recent British study.

What is it about this magic number?

According to experts, thirtysomething women experience a surge of self-confidence once they leave behind their twenties -- a decade where many feel insecure about their bodies and sexual prowess. Also, priorities tend to change -- if you've had a baby by now, you're likely more focused on how you feel and less on how you look -- and this mindset lets you enjoy sex more.

Here are more startling results:

-56% of women say they enjoy sex more in middle age than they when they were young and less experienced.

-Women aged 45 to 60 have sex 4.5 times a month, compared to 10.4 times a month in their 20s and 30s.

So take a cue from Penelope Cruz, Eva Mendes and Victoria Beckham, and reap some well-deserved bedroom benefits!

Well, as a sex educator and coach, and also as someone who just happens to be *34* I definitely agree. One of the myths I try to help women work through is the belief (perpetuated in our culture) that sex is for the thin and young (at least for women). Don’t forget that Halle Berry was named sexiest woman of the year by Esquire and she just had a baby. Sure she looks terrific, but she says that she finally feels good about her sexuality and feels ownership of her sexual pleasure. She couldn’t do that in her 20s! For a lot of us, it takes us a while to truly be confident in our sexuality.

Damn right! (grin) My sexual and spiritual awakening certainly happened in my thirties. Still happening. (biting lip and smiling)
