On an Iraq trip Sunday, President George W. Bush hailed progress in the war that defines his presidency and got a size-10 reminder of his unpopularity when a man hurled two shoes at him during a news conference.
"This is a farewell kiss, you dog!" shouted the protester in Arabic, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt. In Iraq, having shoes thrown at you is said to be the ultimate insult.
Bush ducked both shoes as they whizzed past his head and landed with a thud against the wall behind him.
"It was a size 10," Bush joked later.

Bush has good reflexes but where was the Secret Service? Maybe they were a bit too secret in this case… Apparently this is a major insult in Iraq and the shoe thrower is now in jail. Personally, I’d take it as insult here too, but I don’t think the guy should be in jail for this.
The young man who expressed himself in a traditional but non-hurtful way should be applauded. America went into a country and destroyed it and killed/maimed many of its people for no reason other than imperialism. He should not be in jail for this, and if the Bush character had ANY semblance of humanity anywhere inside his dead soul, he would demand this fellow be released and the charge and record of it dropped immediately!
how childish. I am trying to teach my 2 year old not to throw things-especially at someone else-and now there are grown adults doing it. There are other ways to vent your frustrations than act like a toddler. and I don’t even like Bush. I just think this is stupid adult behavior
