Thirty-Six-year-old Joe Sauceda Gallegos was arrested and initially charged with two counts of child abuse and dangerous crimes against children, now faces two counts of first degree murder. Doctors say the boys appeared to be "bludgeoned repeatedly with a baseball bat" and investigators later found a bat and bloodstained clothing in Gallegos' house.
A surveillance camera posted on a house showed the two young boys walking to the park, followed by a man carrying what appeared to be a baseball bat. After the incident, Gallegos allegedly walked back home. Police do not know what the possible motive for this horrific act may have been.
Joe Sauceda, Gallegos' uncle told police he believes Gallegos was diagnosed as a schizophrenic. Six months ago, Gallegos reportedly told police he killed his sons in his attic, but no victims were ever found. Gallegos' sons are alive and safe, with their mother in Colorado, and are the same ages as the boys who were killed.
