11-Year-Old Loves Fake Tans, False Nails

Sasha Bennington wore her first set of false eyelashes at 8 and her beauty treatments cost $500 a month. A sick abuse of an 11-year-old? "No," insists Sasha's mother, "I just want her to be famous."

Sasha Bennington

Sasha Bennington is just 11 but her mother Jayne loves the way she looks.

Jayne talks breezily about how Sasha had her first set of false nails glued on at 8, and the little girl now enjoys the sort of rigorous beauty regime -- hair extensions, fake tans, pedicures -- that was once the preserve of porn stars and Dolly Parton, not school children from England.

Still, times have changed. "All the kids are at it now," insists Jayne. "We spend about $500 a month on beauty treatments for her."

"I don't understand why people get so upset about it. None of it is permanent. Tans wash off. Hair extensions come out. Why all the fuss?'

Her daughter wants to be like Jordan of "Katie & Peter" fame, and Jayne sees nothing wrong with this.

"Of course. Jordan is her idol and I fully support her in that. She's a great role model, this really down-to-earth woman who has made a big success of her life. She's a better role model than Britney Spears -- any day.

"And so what if she poses in a bikini? There are plenty of 11-year-old girls on beaches in bikinis. If people have a problem with it, I'd say it is their problem, not mine.

"Besides, as I keep saying, this is what Sasha wants."

Ask Sasha how she sees herself and she replies: "Blonde, pretty, dumb - I don't need brains." Her mum laughs her head off at this, proud that the child is so like her.

What do you think of this mom??

this “mother” is pathetic

Wow! Pathetic is an understatement. People like this must suffer from a mental disorder.

wow. sad. seriously sad. how about instead of $500 on beauty treatments, you donate that money, buy your daughter some books, educate her instead of creating another ignorant mind.

Obviously this woman is living her own dreams through her daughters. Mothers like her sicken me! Sounds like this mother needs a shrink.

Oh My Gosh, this is just down right sad. i think that Mommy needs a wake up call…

You have got to be kidding me! Oh, where to start on this one…

Good job Mom, now your kid will probably have skin cancer, brittle nails, no real self-esteem, fried hair and probably be a young mom at age 20! Besides the fact that she’ll have no idea how to correctly budget her money.

$500 bucks a month on beauty treatments, false eyelashes, fake tans and a pursuit of stardom aside, this mom giggles at her daughter calling herself dumb and saying that she doesn’t need any brains. That is just plain irresponsible. Kids go through phases but if fame is her goal the mom should find out what she wants to be famous for… acting, singing, politics….. and she should spend her money on lessons or activities that will help in whatever that may be.

And she WANTS to be dumb??? Wow, that’s a first for me.

Where is the innocence? This mother is setting her child up for failure. How sick and ignorant this mother is!

How bout putting $500 a month into a college fund and encouraging your daughter to do something with her life.

Mommyof2 January 20, 2009, 12:34 AM

WOW!! That girl is on a one way ticket to dancing on a poll thanks to her mom. And as for “Jordan” being a roll model, wasn’t she in porn??? Nice. And on weekends she takes her daughter to the playboy house. As a mom of a 8 year old girl I would never do this to her OR let her do this to herself. PUT DOWN THE HAIRSPRAY AND PICK UP A BOOK!!!

Ummm, Val, I don’t think she’ll wait until she’s 20. She’ll probably end up getting pregnant before she’s 15. This mother needs to have a reality check and be slapped upside the head. JMHO

I think I just threw up in my mouth…
My heart sinks for this child.

Mayumi Kimura January 20, 2009, 1:23 AM

That is so disgusting. She’s obviously living some sick fantasy through her daughter. Why is her daughter modeling bikinis?

Jill January 20, 2009, 2:19 AM

@ Heather - you took the words right out of my mouth.

And I’m familiar with Jordan’s … ahem … body of work, and I’d rather my child look up to Britney Spears. She may be screwed up, but a lot of Britney’s problems are a result of adults taking advantage of her.

Which is what’s going to happen to this poor dress-up-doll of a girl.

I feel so sad for the girl. Yes, she might want to be famous and may be obsessed with being pretty, but her mom should be encouraging her to develop her brains also. Very, very saddening.

just sayin' January 20, 2009, 5:51 AM

she needs a shrink, i’d rather encourage my kid to look like Ashley Tisdale, she isn’t controversial anyway, and you don’t need fake stuff to look like her, get your hairs waved temporarily, sport up a good attitude and best of all, never be afraid to show your true colors. I feel so sad for this girl, she was just treated like a barbie doll.

Just one more pitiful (and eventually, tragic) example of “Mom” wanting to be the “Cool Friend” by not setting boundaries. Or a good example. I’m a high school teacher and the attitude of some students would just stun me. And then I met/spoke with their parents. Mystery solved.
