President-elect Barack Obama published a letter in this month's issue of "Parade Magazine" telling his daughters how they inspired him to run for President.
Obama's letter mentions that the campaign "hasn't always been easy" on Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. He ran for office "because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation."
He says that he hopes his daughters will make America a better place as they grow up. "I hope both of you will take up that work," Obama writes.
He concludes by saying, "I love you more than you can ever know. And I am grateful every day for your patience, poise, grace and humor as we prepare to start our new life together in the White House. Love, Dad."
