Some believe Caylee Anthony was a product of incest. Could it be possible, or are people just grasping at straws to make sense of a senseless crime?

There is so much of the Casey Anthony case that doesn't compute. Sadly, there's is only one thing we know for sure: Caylee Marie Anthony is dead. It's not even clear who her father was. If you believe anything the Anthony family says, you might buy that Caylee's biological father was killed in a car crash a year after she was born.

Or, if you're one of the many people following the case, you might believe that little Caylee was actually the product of an incestuous relationship between Casey and her brother Lee. One clue of the illicit sibling coupling, says believers, is that "Caylee" is a hybrid of names Casey and Lee. Hmm. For some, this Casey-Lee incest could unravel more than a few mysteries.

"As for the incest story ... it sure would explain a lot of Casey's behavior, the lies for one," writes one armchair detective on a Casey Anthony message board. "Her sociopathic behavior. And why Cindy is going to such lengths to protect her. Denial would have been something Cindy's been used to dealing with, denying her children are having sex."

The hypothesis doesn't come out of nowhere. Jesse Grund, Casey's former fiance, told investigators that Casey once mentioned receiving unwanted advances from her brother:

Is it possible that the breakdown of the Anthony family unit is due to a child conceived by two siblings, and a grandmother hellbent on raising the child as her own? Even though it's been speculated that Lee himself is involved in aiding and abetting his sister, incest still seems pretty far-fetched; more like the imaginative musings of conspiracy theorists rather than actual reality.

But incest is more prevalent than any of us would like to believe. In fact, 10-15% of the general population have had a least one incestuous experience. say sources, but less than 2% involve intercourse or attempted intercourse.

According to Dr. Charles Sophy, Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, sexual relationships between siblings start early in 70-90% of cases. "Sexual contact would be initiated somewhere before adulthood," he says.

Kids, after all, will be kids. And kids are curious. "There is an appropriate range of inquisitiveness," explains Dr. Sophy, "but there's a fine line to when it becomes an ingrained pattern of behavior." At that point, a parent might want to bring in an expert to assess the situation, suggests Dr. Sophy.

When presented with the scenario that Cindy Anthony forced Casey to have the offspring of an incestuous relationship, Dr. Sophy seems to think it's at least plausible. "These are disturbed families that don't make judgments on solid ground," he says. "They don't get genetic counseling. By allowing their children to have children, they don't understand incest's biological and social impacts."

One of those impacts that's generally assumed is automatic genetic abnormalities. But if Caylee was indeed conceived from an incestuous relationship between Lee and Casey, "it's not a guarantee that the brother and sister are going to have a retarded child," Dr. Sophy says.

All of this speculation seems moot with DNA technology available. Have investigators looked into the possibility that Lee is the father of Caylee? We asked Carlos Padilla of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "They did get DNA from him [Lee] but I don't know what it was for," says Padilla. When asked to confirm or deny the incest rumors, Padilla tells momlogic: "I can't say [the incest rumor] is true or I can't say it's not true. We've never approached that subject, but many, many people have called us with that suggestion."

You know it is a curious thing, more so than the questions about paternity - incest or other. Only factual DNA can prove the truth of that question. And yes, Casey and Caylee would have received government funds if the death was reported and Caylee was proven to be the product of that union – a relative of the deceased can write a note saying that Caylee is the product of their union – DNA is not required. So, why did Casey and her family pursue getting these deserved moneys? Furthermore, as a mother let alone an RN, Cindy should have known that Casey was pregnant well before her seventh month. Casey is small framed she would have easily shown by her second trimester. So why lie to her brother? Remember he reported that when the Anthony family attended his wedding – he noted that she was obviously pregnant and Caylee was born two months later? My curiosity also extends is to what and where did Casey go and do when she was supposed to be working for nearly three years? Was she doping Caylee with Zanny (aka Xanax)? In the criminal arena it is used to subdue women and children - did she run out of prescriptions? Did she then turn to homemade agents - Chloroform? While she was out partying, did she overdose her and leave her in the trunk to decompose? Was it a bizarre kidnap plot to extort money from George and Cindy that went very bad? By the way, the reason why scientists said that the DNA could be Caseys or Caylees is based on mitochondrial DNA analysis and given the obvious fact that Casey is alive it must be that the ‘decomposition on the hair’ has to belong to the missing toddler – Caylee, who must therefore be dead – otherwise there would not be decomposition. There is a significant difference between a hair root that is pulled out when the victim is a live and a hair root that comes from decomposing corpse. After all that has been exposed, why are Casey Anthony parents and her sibling continuing to ‘protect’ their daughter/sister – from shock of shocks – The TRUTH – she is directly responsible for Caylee’s death? Do they really want Casey back in their loving arms, knowing what a conniving vengeful thief/liar/sociopath/murderess she is? Why? Would you? This is no doubt

I think either Daddy George or brother Lee,one of those men had incest with Casey.Did anyone notice Cindy’s reactions each time George would call her gorgeous?I had the strongest feeling it was Lee due to Jesse Grund telling that Lee had made several sexual advances towards her.At the memorial services Lee wore a button for Casey not Caylee.Also Cindy did ask her if she “told it” to LE.My guess is that “IT” is the Incest in the family.Why do you think Cindy was so hell bent for the election to keep the baby.I’ve said it before,Casey would have collected Social Security Benefits on Caylee and a check for herself if the so called dead Daddy was dead.Mom a Nurse+Dad a former LE=they both know what a dead body smells like.Tonite I heard Leonard P tell Nancy Grace that he was told today that Casey’s fingerprints are on the duct tape used on Caylee’s mouth!Let’s get this trial over with and put her in general population, they will take care of her,maybe even using duct tape and a smuggled in heart sticker too as she takes her last breath.I Prayed every day that Casey didn’t kill her baby,that she had told the truth but too much evidence is staring us all in the face that she is responsible.I will continue to Pray for the entire family because that is what God wants us to do. When I first read the rumour of incest between Casey and Lee a few months ago, I dismissed it as the usual “tabloid type nonsense” that inevitably begins to swirl around cases such as this. But just within the past few days, following Caylee’s memorial, and Lee’s strange message to “CMA”, I am now convinced that incest did exist between Casey & Lee; probably on more than one occassion and consentually between both of them. I realize now that it’s not such a far-fetched notion. It’s just another symptom of a very dysfunctionl family. Casey is either a sociopath or has borderline personality disorder due to the family dynamics she grew up in. Lee has been affected negatively as well and bears as much responsibility. The seeds of this tragedy began with the parents’ relationship or lack therof. So when Caylee disappeared and was later found discarded in the woods everyone wondered WHY? Not who… We all knew that Casey was the killer; but WHY? That IS the central question in this case. What drove Casey to murder her child? The answer lies within the sick & twisted convoluted relationships among the Anthony family members. Caylee never had much of a chance to live a normal, happy life. The only chance she could’ve had would have been if she had been given up for adoption at birth, never to learn who her parents were. But that would have exposed the Anthony’s to the shame of incest charges by the adoption agency - they would have likely discovered this truth. I hope there is an afterlife, and that Caylee will be given a chance to decide for herself if she wants to stay with her savior or return to earth and be reincarnated to live again.

At first i had wondered if maybe she just didn’t know who the father was that she had been with many other guys.. but after seeing the brothers weird behavior and how he talks to her..and some have said that he has a tattoo with her name and Caylee’s..i thought that was strange to hear most people dont get a sibling tattoo of a loved one unless they have passed away at least people i have met..also their names Caylee for Casey and Lee..something does not add up.. very strange family..

DNA testing has shown Lee is not the father. Even if he was, birth defects do not always happen, only the odds are increased. Actually, it is more likely that a woman giving birth over the age of 35 is more likely to have a child with abnormalities than 1st cousins having children. It’s just percentages, not guarantees. None of this means, however, that Casey was not the victim of incest or sexual abuse by some adult figure. I know people on every blog call her a monster and obviously she seems guilty of a monsterous act, however what I am curious about is what turns a person into a monster? I don’t want to see Casey fry as much as I want us as a society to learn how to prevent this. Just think, Casey was a sweet innocent angelic child, full of love and wonder and hope, just like Caylee. What happened? I want us to know so these things can be stopped and so many lives will not continue to go down the drain.

well i am not sure if Lee is Caylee’s biological father, hey… in THAT family ANYTHING is certainly possible, i suppose. as i have said before, Casey did have an accomplice in the dumping of Caylee’s body, i think Lee is Casey’s accomplice. no doubt about it. this is my opinion.

I think George and Lee both were having sex with Casey that’s what made her so hateful to her mother and father. Cindy knew all about this and she is afraid Casey is going to tell all. Not only does George have a problem they all do! George didn’t want his blood pulled for DNA so he used this suicide idea to get out of it. If George was going to kill himself he wouldn’t have taken time to text everyone he knew or write a five page letter he would have just killed himself. Tried to make himself look like he was nuts so cops would back off of him. I think the whole family is crazy!!

The FBI released documents today proving that they have conducted paternity tests and Lee is not the father. However, it remains to be seen if George is the father.
