In the Casey Anthony case, bounty hunter Leonard Padilla has proven he craves the spotlight. But is his theory on how Caylee's remains were found on the money?

Most people following the Casey Anthony case think bounty hunter Leonard Padilla is a fame seeker and a glory hound -- and that's putting it nicely. The controversial reality show "celebrity" has inserted himself into the case by posting Casey's bail in August and has landed himself a regular gig on CNN's "Nancy Grace" show. Grace and Padilla make very likely bedfellows -- both enjoy spinning tales and analyzing minutiae in the Anthony saga, fueling armchair detectives in a case that has taken over public interest where O.J. left off.

Most of Padilla's theories have been misguided at best. When he claimed he had located the remains of Caylee back in November -- and in reality had only brought up pebbles and an old toy -- you'd think he would have slunk off, tail between his legs.

But not Padilla.

He's still supplying endless sound bytes for the case and his latest theory seems almost plausible. Padilla believes Casey's brother Lee Anthony knew where Caylee's remains were and perhaps, gathering the information from Casey in secret messages during their jailhouse visits, fed the tips to Roy Kronk, the utility worker who visited the area three times in August and finally discovered the remains on December 11th.

"[Lee's] situation is there's a daisy chain that extends from Casey all the way to the meter reader Kronk. They're trying to fill in the spaces as to who carried the message where the body was so that the meter reader could find it after the fourth try," says Padilla.

The remains were eventually found in a place called "The Zone," a childhood hangout of Casey's that was known to the entire Anthony family. In his July visit with his sister, Lee asks where to search for Caylee. Casey responds, "Check places locally Lee, in all honesty, places that are familiar to us, to our family."

See for yourself. Are Casey and her brother speaking in "code"? Or is Padilla doing anything to stay in the spotlight? Comment in the momlogic community.

The Anthony family members are not smart enough to talk in code. They can barely function in any capacity. The news media needs to give them less attention too. Viki, I’ve thought since day one that Lee was Caylee’s father and that’s why all this went down. It also explains all the Crazy behavior of this family. They all know and are desperately trying to keep these dirty little secrets from coming out. I think poor little Caylee has been used since day one as a means for Cindy & Casey to get even with each other & treat each other like sh**! That poor child may have had everything as far as material things but I don’t think Cindy is even capable of loving a child like she should of been loved….why would she make Casey have the child and keep an unwanted baby? Why would she demand that Casey take care of her child knowing she did not want to? Why if Cindy loved Caylee so much didn’t she take Caylee? Cindy forced this on Casey knowing she didn’t want Caylee so she bears this burden too! To me there is no difference between Cindy & Casey….as a matter of fact I think Cindy is worse!!

July 25 jailhouse visit lee told Casey they wanted to help her but any information had to go directly to the family. That he would not release anything she told him. The following day casey calls lee from jail. On the audio tape she states “I still feel she’s close to HOLT” Hidden oaks lake trail between her house and the school, in the wooded area. The area where Kiomari Kruz stated she would be. The area didn’t look like casey remembered so she dumped caylee there. She either lay there the whole time or she was moved (possibly by Lee) and returned to approximately same area.

I had never thought of Lee being the father, but it does make some sort of sense now! We should forward this info. to Nancy Grace and her team to investigate

EM, I just listened to the audio again, I listened to it over and over and your right…..Casey says “I still feel like she’s close to HOLT.” That is just weird, I didn’t think they were smart anough to talk in code but after hearing this I don’t know what else it could be and they are talking about charging Lee now. Also, in the latest interview w/George it states that Lee has moved home with his parents, I wonder if he is still with his girlfriend Mallory? Maybe she knows something about Lee’s involvement in this mess.

I think people are being a little hard on Nancy Grace. She was an English major who became a prosecutor when her fiance was murdered. And, she thinks, talks, and approaches things like a prosecutor. It was her bold approach, fearlessness about taking on tough cases, and consistent win record that brought her into the spotlight. I admit, I’ll cringe a little sometimes when she badgers her guests, but, as Grace herself has pointed out, the courtroom is a battlefield. Defense attorneys play rough, too, and the stakes are high ~ it’s about getting murderers off the street so they can’t kill again. I really and truly think that Nancy Grace is driven by a desire for justice and not a desire to be in the limelight. I don’t think she’s spinning tales. She’s spearheading the prosecution. When Casey Anthony’s “dream team” throws out their curve balls, Nancy Grace blows them out of the water. As a prosecutor, you can’t go in there and let sleeping dogs lie and be polite. You have to focus on the minutiae of the case, the details, no matter how horrible they are. Since the Tot Mom has an entourage of experts on her side, I think it’s only fair that little Caylee has someone like Nancy Grace, pursuing justice for her!

Casey Anthony is a scumbag. She makes me sick with her crap. Anyone with any common sense knows what happened here. You can say negative things all you want about LP and NG they have kept this story alive and well. I Can’t wait until the day she goes to prison in the general population. Let’s see how she flaunts herself then. Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Selfish to let her child pass this way.

Wow, I am so amazed at everyone’s thoughts. I never thought of Lee being the father either, but it makes sense. No father has ever been produced even by name. And I thought it odd that Casey told her boyfriend (after Caylee’s birth and DNA test) that the father was a one-night stand but that she agreed with the father that he would have nothing to do with the child. She didn’t need child support??? And how was a one-night-stand so available to talk to? Usually one-night stands disappear and you never see them again much less have close contact with them. Yes, very fishy……incest…wow…reminds me of the Sam Shepard Pulitzer Prize play, “Buried Child” where a child conceived in incest was disposed of. And the people in this family were so backwards and strange and would go around pretending the whole thing never happened until the tiny remains were found years later.

Incest might also explain why Cindy would “not allow” her grown daughter, Casey, to give up her baby for adoption. Maybe she was afraid the DNA one day would reveal the dirty little secret if the adoptive parents wanted the name of the father for their child’s medical history?

Lee is the father. casey didn’t want new Boyfriend to figure it out. Casey can communicate easily thru notes and messages carried by lawyer, others…the Anthony’s in it up to their eyeballs. Cindy has something over George’s head to keep him in line. Someone should check into the Anthony finances and history even back in Ohio. there are more skeletons here than Caylee. Suppose Casey was allowing pictures or porn of Caylee for money and she suffocated or OD’d on Chloroform during it?

Talking in CODE? Uhmmm…yeah? Excellent question! Kris…Totally agree with you on all comments!!!! Leonard Padilla has done a great job IMO with this case, he was wrong on a couple of things, but so were all of us. And LE is and has done an awesome job! Lee the dad-I say yes. I believe Casey wanted the body to be either found and destroyed or found like Padilla said, w/duct tape for her ridiculous “Zanny” defense that backfired.

Caylee also resembles MrBaez..haha Casey did this and never looked back. the gas cans kept the car running? or was she going to torch it but got interrupted…and Lee Lee Lee you are fried too….with Cindy who knew as well…

I think that Casey killed Caylee so she could hang out with Tony,her new joe college boyfriend. Tony told her that he didn’t want any kids. By saying that to Casey, he was telling her that marriage was not on the horizon. Casey felt overwhelmed to be a girlfriend to a college boy and be a mother to a very smart 3 year old. She was also catching heat from Cindy. She saw herself as a mother, who was hanging out with college kids, and yet had really nothing in common with them. She tried to make herself look important by making up this cool job at Universal Studios, but in sad reality she was a 21 year old single mother, with no college education, unemployed, who still lived at home. Finally, I just think that Casey was very promiscuous and didn’t know who the father was. The father can be just about anyone. I used to work in the court system and saw many a young mother in the system because they abused their children or neglected them. A large majority of these young girls would name a few men as the fathers. These men would then be eliminated through DNA testing. I saw one case where the girl would keep bringing in new names, etc. This case is reminiscent of the Susan Smith case, where she drowned her boys. I recall that she was trying to come off as a victim, crying on national tv. In her tv shots, investigators said that she deliberately wore her boyfriends college sweatshirt so he would think that she loved him and was thinking of him through her “pain”. Susan’s boyfriend also told her he didn’t want kids. Children are a gift, and it’s sad that a child has to die at the hands of their own mother. One last point. It makes me sick that Casey is using this Zanaida in her lie. Just like Susan Smith used this imaginary black man stealing her boys. Why do these white girls have to use people of color? will this somehow make them look innocent? Rest in peace sweet little angel, Caylee Anthony~

lann,i think casey used the race card because cindy is a racist and would buy her kidnapping story….if you read the interview w/kiomarie torres, she states when they were kids she was not allowed in the anthony home because she was hispanic.

Sorry, Don’t believe in the incest angle or the encoded talk for that matter(at least not on Lee’s part). Don’t believe that any of the Anthonys knew anything for certain until the child’s body was identified. I would say they were highly suspicious. The whole family treated Casey with kid gloves. They do this because they don’t want to offend her. Unfortunately, people who are too close to a Psychopath aren’t mentally equipped to deal with one adequately. They try anything to stop the bad behavior. Tough love. Giving in and playing along. Nothing helps. In the end, you just give up on them and refuse to play their sick games. This is why the Anthony clan is laying low now. They are finally giving up and allowing their sick daughter to face responsibility by herself. It’s about time. And to the woman who believes that all she needs is to believe in Jesus Christ. Darling, please don’t kid yourself. These people are never going to change even if Jesus himself came down and blessed them.

I think Casey was talking in code from the beginning. Being a sociopath, she thought she was smarter than the cops and was giving them clues and then saying, “See, I told the cops where the body was and they were too dumb to figure it out.” I read on the Internet where Casey may have used the name Zenaida Gonzalez as a clue to where she dumped Caylee’s body. The two owners of the property adjacent to the body dump are named Zenaida and Gonzalez. She told Lee when she was in jail that she gave the cops the same information as Lee about Zenaida Gonzalez and they were not followng her clues. I think Lee finally got that his sister was telling him where she dumped the body because he was used to her code talk. The police just saw Casey as a typical murderer who was lying and blaming her crime on “some other dude” named Zenaida Gonzalez. The fact that the cops did not read her code made her feel smarter than the cops. Sociopaths love to outsmart the cops and feel superior to them.

My heart aches for this little baby so bad, but I thank god she is in heaven now. Look this mother, and her family are so guilty it makes me sick. I am a grama of two,and if I didnt see them for a month i would have asked and been involved alot sooner than her parents have. Also what is the judge thinking letting her attorney get his way of sending photos all over the country.. If these people want to be involved then go to Florida, and review the pictures. He says it cost to much. Give us a break,who r u kidding. The next chapter of this case will be missing photos, and nobody knows what happend to them, but i guarantee her attorney will. God Bless Kaley, and the rest of the family, I dont know how u sleep at night.

I am appauled at how anyone can make money from a murder. I think thaT THE LAW should be changed. Kronck,Family.defense team, or any other party should not be allowed to get paid. People should be prosecuted. Codes such as has been discussed in this Blog leading to the finding of this child is great, but money???
