New documents confirm what investigators have said all along: The smell in Casey Anthony's car was not from pizza.
In the beginning of the investigation into the disappearance of Caylee Anthony, grandparents Cindy and George swore a smell coming from the car of their daughter Casey was rotting pizza. Investigators thought otherwise, and attributed the smell to a decomposing, human body.
Now documents confirm there was no pizza in the car, just an empty box:
The family has stuck to the story since August, when Cindy told reporters: "There was a bag of pizza for like 12 days in the trunk of the car full of maggots. It stunk so bad ... you know how hot it's been."
Much later on Larry King Live, George backed up the garbage theory, but nixed the pizza part of the story. "My professional opinion is I never really realized how long it would take garbage to smell for 19 days or 18 days inside of a car in Florida," he said.
The problem was there wasn't any food in the trunk to decompose. CSI Gerardo Bloise stated in his forensic report August 25 that he "did not find any pizza or any type of meat." There might have been remnants of food on the many empty containers, but nothing that could possibly produce a stench that Cindy Anthony described as the "smell of death."
According to the report, the contents of Casey Anthony's car contained 37 separate items from what seemed to be from a wild party: Empty packages of Velveeta cheese, empty boxes of cigarettes, and loose tobacco and plenty of empty beer cans. To see the complete list, click on the documents below.

To be accurate, however, Cindy and George DID say that they threw the pizza out right away, because (they claim) it was the source of the smell. I believe it really was there and it was their way of lying to themselves.
That, or George fabricated the existence of actual pizza as part of his cover-up to Cindy. Remember that he told the police that HE knew it was the smell of a decomposing corpse, but that he couldn’t say that to Cindy so he reassured her that it was the pizza.
This family is the sorriest excuse for human beings I have heard of. They have had every advantage in life and look at what they are: criminals and that includes the grandparents. Disgusting
This reporter needs to comprehend the reading before writing. The forensic report clearly indicates that a pizza box was found as well as “what appears to be maggots on the black plastic food tray.”
Nothing in the released reports indicates that Casey Killed Caylee. Wait for the trial folks when the defense will tell the story. Casey might have done this but so far there is nothing to link her to the death. Police would need to find Casey’s finger print on the tape or she will walk.
If you’re going to start a post with “To be accurate”, you should probably be accurate in whatever comes next.
Neither cindy or george said they threw any pizza out. It was the guy from the wrecker company who threw the BAG out. The police recovered the back soon after.

To heck with the cynics and their attempts to waterdown the facts. This is a slam-dunk-case. Everything… and I mean everything points to Casey’s guilt.
As for George and Cindy I pray that I never have to walk even oneday in their shoes. It has to be pretty much their worst nightmare. All families have things that would not make good press. I pray for them and for both of their children. Their sweet little grand baby is no more oh the pain of that. May George and Cindy find peace and be comforted by their faith in Jesus.
Casey Anthony is not the first mother accused of killing her child/children. Unfortunately she probably won’t be the last. While Susan Smith is serving jail time for killing her two boys…Andrea Yates is free and she killed all five of her children.
What I cannot wrap my mind around is how these women willfully and knowingly hurt the most prescious gift they’ve ever been given. Children trusts their mom more than anyone else in the world! It’s innate that they trust mothers, and so far as I know it’s innate to love the child you’ve carried and nutured for nine months. I don’t see how mental illness, anger, or selfishness can nullify those feelings. It sickens me to think about the confusion, horror, and terror these children must have felt being betrayed by the one they love the most…and the one who’s supposed to love them the most.
I have tracked this story from the very start and I have read over all the released court documents. I am so familiar with the writing pattern of the lead detectives of this case that I can hear them speak as I read. I have tons of time to surf while I ‘work’. So, as an arm-chair expert, these are my conclusions: Casey Anthony is a sociopath. Through her actions she caused the death of her own daughter. Murdered definitely – intentions questionable. The peripheral ‘family’, ‘friends’ and ‘colleagues’ who have been questioned about these events shine an intriguing and harsh light onto this family. The lies, the lies, the lies, haunt all. George as a former LEO and as a current security consultant/agent knows the various legal systems. Cindy Anthony prior to being a grieving grandmother had been emotionally and financially terrorized by her sociopathic daughter. Lee Anthony is an ‘interesting’ young man with secrets of his own. However, regardless of their intentions to hide the shame of their family dynamics, Cindy, Lee and George Anthony have repeated lied to LE and misled the public, and thus they are culpable in the subsequent aftermath of these events. Yet for all the speculation, one fact remains consistent, Caylee Anthony was once loved by these people. How tragic.
hmm………..if police had Casey’s finger print on the duct tape, it would be on the news immediatwle because it would force a plea deal for life in prison. Without the finger print on that duct tape means there is room for doubt and Casey walks….and if someone else’s print is on that tape and Casey’s is not, then she might have been telling the truth or covering for someone…….she is a dumb 22 year old.

Casey Anthony is going to be convicted on the forensics evidence which may not be released until just before or at the trial and the circumstantial evidence. The duct tape, the heart shaped sticker, the garbage bag, the laundry hamper, the Winnie the Pooh blanket and the toy horse will glean a lot of DNA evidence and can be matched with other objects at the Anthony home. The jury will be made up of mothers, grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers who know they will have to put the victim first and make the right decision for Caylee, a helpless toddler who was brutally murdered. They will see through all of Casey’s lies and her “dream team” manipulations and will put all the pieces of the puzzle together and get justice for Caylee.
Jodi and Paula… have you two been living in a cave? Do you think every crime is solved with finger prints? Guess again! Modern science has moved way ahead of your simple minded thinking. Casey “the murderer” Anthony is going down … in life and afterward too!
Casey Anthony did it by herself-no question. The murder, the moving and disposing of Caylee’s body and the lying to distraught grandparents who can’t allow themselves to believe this is happening to them. Hope they can put themselves together and face reality.
I’m a parent and a grandparent and what I don’t understand is how grandparents can turn their backs on a murdered granddaughter and only care about their daughter whom they know murdered her. They told the truth in the beginning. George said he knew he smelled a dead body in the car trunk because as a former homicide detective you never forget that smell. He said he didn’t want to believe it was his granddaughter and that he could have raised someone that would do something like this. Cindy told 911 she smelled a dead body in the car and she told a friend of Casey’s she knew Casey had done something to Caylee. Then Casey throws a tantrum from jail that nobody in her family is behind her. From then on, George and Cindy started lying and covering up for Casey. The dead body became a pizza and garbage. They knew Caylee was decomposing in the woods behind their house for a month. Did they search for her tiny bones and skull? No, they sent their PI to the woods to try to destroy the evidence and then they traveled to New York to appear on national TV claiming Caylee was alive and romping in a mall in Orlando and dining in a restaurant in California. Now Caylee’s skull and bones lie in a cardboard box. If their daughter was not in jail accused of this heinous crime, they would be screaming for justice for Caylee. Instead, they are screaming that their daughter be set free. George and Cindy, it’s time to stand up for Caylee. You didn’t save her from her mother while she was alive. You can save her now and help prosecutors bring to justice her murderer. Stop lying and covering up for Casey for her good, yours and Caylee’s. Wake up and help us get justice for Caylee.
Jan, my point was that they said the pizza was disposed of before the police examined the car, according to the statements of George and Cindy. However, I did not realize that the police later retrieved the bag. Sorry!
Tragic is too simple a word for this case. The poisonous threads extend to more than Casey and Caylee. Her Mom Oh what a misguided woman pretending she has the Happy family with the cute little grandaughter..beneath the surface of that facade was a cess pool of lies and secrets. The Dad George.such a strange affect especially to Cindy and Casey. In the last jail video of August, Cindy is crying horrbly, slouched over. George pats her back awwardly for a second and then starts picking lint of her sweater….WHAT??? Then Lee boy oh boy much could be said about that puppet. He MUST have had a hand in moving Caylee’s body…more will come out especially if the link is that he is the “Dad” And Baez…under investigation by the Fla bar? for what? Inappropriate contact with Casey…she has gained some weight I see…looks pregnant???
