Associated Press: Los Angeles police say a father who was distraught over issues at work shot to death his wife and their five children before turning the gun on himself.
Among the victims are 2-year-old twin boys, 5-year-old twin girls, an 8-year-old girl and their mother. Police say a man at the home called and sent a rambling fax to a local station indicating that he was going to kill himself and his family over a workplace dispute with his employer, a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Los Angeles.
Police say a call was also made from the home to 911. The caller, believed to be the father and shooter, said he had just returned home around 8:30 AM this morning to find his family murdered. When cops arrived, everyone in the house was dead.
In the letter to the TV station, the suspect mentioned that he and his wife had both been fired from their job. The letter indicated that this tragedy may have been planned by both the husband and the wife because they were unsure how to support their children.
News helicopters showed a sizable two-story tract home with a red tiled roof on a tidy street. A children's playset was in the backyard.
