An Indiana woman saved her two young girls from a sinking SUV after it slid off a snowy road on Wednesday.
Kortni Peek lost control of her car driving on a slick curve while driving with her daughters, 8-month-old Maggie and 2-year-old Ella Rose.
"I had been a lifeguard, so I know the severity of the situation and the difficulty of getting out of water," said Peek, 26. "I just knew we weren't going to have long to get out."
Fortunately, Peek was able to get the girls out of their car seats and escape through the driver's side window as the vehicle sank.

Way to go, Mom! I have one of those seat belt cutter/window smashers in my car, just in case.

The Today Show had a segment about how to get out of your car if it’s submerged in water. They never said what you would have to do if you had small children in the car. This is one of my biggest fears too.
