Momlogic's Jenny: I am a product junkie. Eye cream, eye remover, eye gel, eye serum ... I want it all. So it's no wonder that my lust for beauty products has seeped into my world of Mommyhood.
From the moment my son was born, I have searched, researched and tested tons, and I mean TONS, of baby products -- in search of the least chemical-ly, delicious smelling yet inexpensive product that was perfect enough for my own perfect baby. Like many new, and neurotic mommies, I would hear all these scary reports of what chemicals to avoid and would spend time (that I probably didn't have) reading every single ingredient and label when it came time to buying something as simple as diaper cream. And it seemed the chemical-free products that I did find cost more than a mani-pedi combo at my nail salon -- $18 for a teeny body wash? For my 4-month-old? I don't think so!
Look, I'm all about drugstore beauty. I also realize my mom used Johnson & Johnson products on me and I turned out perfectly fine (I mean, the third eye eventually disappeared), but I just want something "cleaner" for my son. So when I stumbled upon a line called Nature's Baby Organics at my local health food supermarket, I was thrilled. All of their products are made with 70% - 95% certified organic ingredients and are especially formulated for everyone (including mommy's!) sensitive skin. What really excited me is that their products are all Paraben, SLS, Phthalate and Propylene Glycol-free -- meaning, my kid won't go into early puberty or grow a third head, thanks to these yucky chemicals.
And as a mom, I also love that this company was founded by mother of two Adena Surabian who was desperate to find a hair and skincare line that was safe from chemicals and harsh ingredients after her own child broke out in a mysterious rash.
Nature's Baby Organics offers a huge variety of products from face and body moisturizer to diaper cream to a Eucalyptus Chest Rub that will soothe a baby and loosen chest and sinus congestion naturally. For $9.95, I got an 8 oz. bottle of delicious smelling shampoo and body wash in the vanilla tangerine scent (YUM!). My son smells so delicious after his bath. The bottle has lasted a couple of months and, frankly, was a miracle after he vomited all over himself (hair and all) one night ... and it happened to work pretty good on mommy's hair too after a night at a smoky club. Now that's what I call an "all-in-one" product!
