In an effort to try and find out more about the woman who gave birth to octuplets earlier this week, we went to the home she shares with her parents and six other children in Whittier, California.

What we learned is that her whole neighborhood is buzzing about the possibility that the 33-year-old mother used the same sperm donor to conceive the octuplets AND her other six children.

In an exclusive interview with momlogic, one neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed that the very pregnant young mom was THE hot topic of conversation at the neighborhood Christmas party. He says, "From what I heard, she likes kids, she wants a jillion kids. She even lied to the doctors who impregnated her." The grandmother of the octuplets told the LA Times she never expected fertility treatments would lead her to conceive her eight babies. Neither doctors nor family members have commented on whether or not she used donor sperm.

When asked if he knew who the father of the baby is, the neighbor said, "She is single. She used a sperm donor, someone she knew, who donated sperm a long time ago. He donated the sperm for the first six kids and she used his frozen sperm for these ones. I don't think the sperm donor knows about these eight kids. He was not involved."

According to the neighbor, the parents are very supportive of their daughter and even lost their own home in an effort to support her. "The parents lost their house supporting their daughter," the neighbor went on. "They actually bought this house for her, but then they lost their house supporting her and her kids and they had to move in with her. And now her father has to go back to Iraq to earn more money to support her. Her father either works as a truck driver or an interpreter [in Iraq]."

As to whether the mother herself works, the neighbor says: "She's a professional student and I want to know where the money's coming from to do this. Maybe she's using her student loans to do it."

The family is very private: "They stick to themselves and you can always hear the grandma yelling at the kids because they are so rambunctious."

Although many think the birth of the octuplets is a happy miracle, the neighbor disagrees. "We should find out who the doctor is and where the money came from because this is irresponsible. The girl seemed a little off -- and I don't want to be paying for her kids."

I’m confused by the neighbor’s statement that she doesn’t want to be paying for the mother’s children. Regarding — “The family is very private: “They stick to themselves…”” I guess that makes sense given that the neighbors are so free with information on the family. I suppose I’d be private, too. If you don’t share information with others, you don’t need to worry about people with lose lips sharing it.

Michelle Dugger has 18 kids and will continue to have them until her body is unable do so; however, nobody is asking Michelle and Jim Bob Dugger where they get their money to feed and cloth their children. My point, folks need to stay out of other peoples business unless it directly affects you.

The difference between the Duggars and this woman are many. The main one being how incredibly irresponsible and unethical it would be for any doctor to transfer 8 embryos at once - especially in an obviously fertile woman. It puts the mother’s and babies’ lives at risk and is completely selfish and self-serving. Either some quack of a doctor did this and should answer to it OR this woman is lying about how these babies were really conceived.

While you’re at it, someone should investigate the Gosselins in PA. Kate claims to have gone thru RSI for treatment yet there is no record of her. Also, she was hospitalized for hyperstimulated ovaries (she admits this herself publicly) yet ended up pregnant 5 weeks later? No doctor would inseminate a (honest) women in ovarian hyperstimulation. Someone needs to contact Charlene Krieder…

As a mother of 8 (two of my own, 6 of my husbands), I am appauled that this woman would intentionally have herself impregnated yet again. I know people who live on that street and if the stories are true about her not working and possibly funding this invitro and living expenses with money from student loans, she is truly a mental case. The state of California (which is broke), funded by tax payers like me will now be supporting these 8 along with the first 6 children. I too would love to know who the unethical physician was who had a hand in this. It’s so sad for the first six children who already have a tough enough life as it is being one of 6 of a single mother, but to bring in 8 more, most of which (if not all), will be special needs children is just simply abusive!! There is no other term for it.

This whole situation sickens me. First of all, the doctors at the fertility clinic where this woman went should be investigated on their practices. Either this girl LIED to them and conned her way into receiving fertility treatment or they hand out fertilized eggs to women in CA like they are going out of style. There is NO WAY a young single girl like this with NO JOB and 6 kids at home already should receive ANY type of fertility treatment!!! Dont they do some type of background check or research before they administer treatment?! And HELLO!!!! Who do you think will pay for all the diapers, formula, vaccinations & etc that these children need? Can you say Public Aid and Welfare! Open your eyes people!!!!

Ava- BTW - The Duggars are open about what they do for a living and how they support their children. If she doesn’t have a job… and from what the neighbors say she doesn’t. I am assuming that these kids are on state insurance? Could that be a good assumption? If so, she just made it everyones business!

How rude of the nosey neighbors and the ignorant commentators on this post. If this woman wants to have a lot of kids, and she has her own means of supporting them, then she can do what she wants. Obviously she has her parent’s support as her mum and pop both sold their home to move in and support the grand kids. Who said anything about state assistance? More likely the neighbors are using state assistance in one way or another as they seem to know it so well. And just because the comments above have useless, barren wombs gives (- Anonymous) gives no right to dictate who should and should not have children.

“Neighbor” seems like s/he’s talking without really knowing anything about the family. I guess it beats saying truthfully, “They kept to themselves, the neighbors don’t know anything”. Because clearly, this is just the neighborhood gossip and not any real, true information.

this whole thing sounds so off. I have to wonder if she’s having lots of kids because she feels she’ll get sympathy, handouts and perhaps maybe even a little fame? Hey Jon & Kate have their own show and get freebys all the time. I’m surprised more mooches haven’t jumped on the baby making bandwagon. Incidentally, in Britain, thay pay single moms a welfare type of allowance. Since they started doing this, and the government seems surprised, there is a huge number of single teen moms.

“having lots of kids because she feels she’ll get sympathy, handouts and perhaps maybe even a little fame”… Seems to me that the family is desperately trying to avoid fame, while the media and her “neighbors” are thrusting it upon them. Had there not been an 8th baby, this would have been “just another” birth of 7 babies and there would have been little or no press at all. There was a woman who gave birth to 7 babies right after the McCaughey septuplets who stayed relatively anonymous, since it was no longer big news to have 7 (and one of her babies did not survive). Incidentally, that set of septuplets (of which 6 survived) were NOT conceived with the help of fertility treatments.

I’m just grateful these kids weren’t born here in the UK. Then this Mum would get a free house, free healthcare, free education, and unbelievable free cash forever. In our insane country benefits aren’t time limited. She would probably rake in about $5,000 a week in cash plus rent which because of the large size could be anything up to $150k a year. We already pay that amount for new arrival illegals who have big famillies. In this particular case I think the whole thing is fishy. It wouldn’t surprise me if the “grandfather” is in fact the husband of this women. After all don’t you find it odd that what looks like a Muslim familly should allow their daughter to have children out of marriage. However how many such men have two “wives”.

This article/post/blog entry or whatever the heck it’s called on MOMLOGIC is so journalistically irresponsible. It’s gossipy garbage like this that give Internet writers a bad rap. Has the “journalist” who secured the “exclusive” ever heard of HIPA laws? I’m sure their response would be that they’re not health professionals —that’s obvious— as is their lack journalistic integrity.

This woman is not wanting to stay out of the public eye, they are just hoping to feed into this huge mystery so that someone like Discovery or TLC will “seek” them out and offer more and more money to BUY her story. I wish the media would totally ignore this psychopath. Anyone with 2 brain cells would know that even IF she had money, she can not raise 14 kids alone and do a half way job. The people of CA will be footing the bill and that makes it the citizens business! What a useless excuse for a mother!

Those poor little children. Not to mention the millions of dollars it’s taking to keep these tiny creatures in the hospital for months on end. Do you honestly think granddad’s salary as a truck driver will pay for this? Wake up, taxpayers!

Gossiping neighbors are gross. And all of the speculation about whether there is a father is disturbing. Would this somehow be okay if there was a father in the picture? Please. The people interviewed for this story are small-minded busybodies. End of story. That being said, this whole situation is wrong. There is no reason for anyone in modern day society to have 14 (or 18 children. And yes, I’m talking about the equally irresponsible Duggars who at one time took money from church and community members to support their lifestyle. Now they simply exploit themselves on television for support. But I digress). Certainly, this woman’s reproductive endocrinologist—-or whomever it was that implanted the embryos—-should be barred from practicing medicine. It is unethical to do what he/she has done and no reputable RE would take this kind of risk. But that doesn’t make this woman any less irresponsible. In my mind, she is morally, socially and environmentally irresponsible to have 14 children. We all, as a society, foot the bill on this in so many ways and not just financially. And she probably knows this to some extent or she wouldn’t be hiding from the media. I would hide, too. Nearly 800,000 children languish in the US Foster Care System and people like this woman and the Duggars feel some egomaniacal compulsion to birth more babies? Please. This practice is offensive.

CBS is reporting that the family lost a house and filed bankruptcy before this happened. I think that if this family is on any kind of public assistance, that makes this topic the business of the taxpayers in CA.
