Patrick Swayze Hospitalized with Pneumonia

The actor was about to appear on stage at a live industry event when it was announced that he has checked himself into the hospital with pneumonia.

Someone blogging from the Television Critic's Association winter press tour on THR.com said that Patrick Swayze was supposed to take the stage to promote his new A&E series, "The Beast." But the president and general manager of the network, Robert DeBitetto, came out and announced he had checked himself into the hospital with pneumonia. "Chemotherapy can take its toll on the immune system, and illnesses are a part of that," he said. "Patrick wishes me to tell you that he's very sorry he cannot attend, but plans to get back to promoting 'The Beast' soon. He thanks everybody for the outpouring of support. We hope to see him back on his feet soon."

We wish him well.

Maybe instead of trying to be out and doing a show and stuff, he should be resting and taking care of himself. Maybe he had to do a show to pay his medical bills.

maybe he should do what he wants to do. It is not up to the public to make decisions or critize what he is doing. If he is feeling up to it, then good for him!! b

“Maybe” he should stop smoking once he found out he had cancer!!

Mary that’s comical. I am definitely against smoking, but the damage has been done. I couldn’t imagine going through chemo while having nicotine withdrawls. He has a big enough battle to fight. My thoughts and prayers are with Patrick and his wife! I hope he can pull out of this one and make it to his interview with Barbara in two years. Keep fighting Patrick!!!

my wife died of breast cancer, metastatic to the bone then into her brain, at 29..if mr. swayze wants to smoke leave him alone.i agree with nicole and betty.one shouldn’t him unless the have seen the evil “c” word first hand..its will power that keeps one going. and i believe he will win..dance once again mr. swayze!!

Nicole and Paul, my comment had nothing to do with the effects of smoking those are obviously well known. It had everything to do with the body’s immune system and it’s inablility or difficulty to heal. So to endure chemo in order to get better but then to continue smoking and hamper your immune system is just totally counterproductive and stupid.
