Police are searching for the body of a baby that was thrown out with the trash at a Jersey City hospital.

The baby boy died soon after birth on Dec. 21 and was put in the hospital morgue. A funeral home employee discovered the body to be missing when he went to pick it up on Jan. 2.

Authorities informed Kalynn Moore, the mother, that the body had been mistakenly thrown out.

"I just lost my baby [and] now you all are telling me you misplaced his body," she said. "It didn't seem like it was real. It felt like a dream."

Moore named her son Bashere Davon Moyd Jr.
