Matt Ivester, chief executive officer of JuicyCampus.com, announced on Wednesday that the website will cease operations and cited the poor economy and falling ad revenue.

The decision comes a year after the company was subpoenaed as part of an investigation to determine whether it was failing to comply with rules that required users not to post abusive or inappropriate content.

Ivester was also facing a federal lawsuit filed by a University of Delaware student who was trying to find out who was posting gossip about her on the site.
