A 49-year-old patient, reportedly of octomom Dr. Michael Kamrava's, is pregnant with four babies. The woman has no insurance and already has three grown children.

The Beverly Hills doctor who helped Nadya Suleman conceive octuplets also provided fertility treatment to a 49-year-old woman who is pregnant with quadruplets and is hospitalized at County-USC Medical Center, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Several sources told The Times that Dr. Michael Kamrava transferred at least seven embryos made from younger donor eggs.

The woman in the latest case arrived recently at Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment but was transferred last week to County-USC because she lacks insurance, the sources said. Doctors placed her on bed rest until the birth of the babies, which, they added, could be two or three months from now.

Reached by telephone, the woman, who is about five months pregnant, denied that Kamrava was her doctor. She said her doctors urged her not to talk to the media because she is already dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and doesn't need more stress.

"Please respect my privacy," she said.

(The Times has confirmed the information through several independent sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named.)

The woman has three grown children from a previous marriage but wanted another child with her second husband, who is in his early 30s and doesn't have any children. She works as an apartment manager; her husband is a contractor.

Fertility experts say transferring that many embryos raises the odds of a multiple birth, which threatens the health of the mother and babies.

Quadruplet births are rare, with an average of 14 sets born in California each year, according to state records.

"I do think it is concerning, and dangerous, especially to the mother," said one doctor with knowledge of the case. "She is close to 50. When women get to be that age, our fear is the cardiovascular complications, such as stroke or heart attack. That's how serious this is."

Kamrava could not be reached for comment and has declined previous interview requests. A woman who answered the phone at his West Coast IVF Clinic said, "If [a] mother wants to bring four kids, so what?"

Doctors at USC and Good Samaritan Hospital also declined comment about the quadruplet pregnancy, citing patient confidentiality.

What do you think of this latest case?

It sounds like this doctor has a problem.

If these woman do not have insurance who is paying for the IVF… Medicaid??? I cannot imagine that Medicaid would actually cover such a clearly elective procedure.

Something’s very wrong with this picture. Sounds to me like the IVF doc is taking his money and possibly telling the moms that they won’t have to worry about hospital charges. One wonders if anyone is telling the moms about the risk to their own health.

Sick. Real sick.

As a tax payer I’m pretty pissed off to think that I’m paying for all these babies when there are people who really do need HELP and can’t get it. This story makes me sick to my stomach and I’m quite angry about having to pay for more children who are not my responsibility. This mother sound like she is trying to get a free ride on all us TAX PAYERS. LQ

Well at least she is marreid, had worked recently and as a working husband and no other children at home and only four in the womb.
That’s much better than Suleman.
Further, their combined income most likely will disqualify them from MediCal. Which then they are solely responsible for the medical bills. However once the babies are here, that

Someone really needs to shut this clinic down and the doctors medical license needs to be revoke. It looks more and more he is most concerned about financial gain more then the health of his patients.

I think it is NO ONE’s business except the people and doctors involved. WHY should the clinic be shut down and WHY should the doctor’s medical license be revoked?! They have NOT done anything wrong! The second woman is MARRIED…stay OUT of her business!! Suleman is NOT married. SHE made the choice to have multiple children. That is NOT a crime! What is WRONG with you people, other than that you are all SO worried about money, and your selfishness that she is going to be rewarded somehow for this out of your pockets. I don’t care if my taxes help these 8 babies…it is the BABIES, not Suleman, who are my concern. I do not think they should be taken from her…as long as they are healthy, well-fed, and clean.

Really, you seriously don’t think its anyones business expect the people and the doctors involved. Hmmmm, when the taxpayers have to be stuck paying for her kids, it is everyones BUSINESS!!

Really you must be on public assistance if it doesn’t bother you.

Lin February 13, 2009, 10:30 AM

I work FULL time and have no need to ever be on public assistance. You obviously are one of those people who is forever making false assumptions. Taxpayers have “been stuck” for years paying for other peoples’ children. Nothing new about that, and it is not likely to ever change just because 8 more are possibly added to the list. I am more concerned with other things like the high rate of crime in this country or the tragedy in Australia than I am with Suleman and her children. People should be up in arms over what arsonists have done there and what they have done in this country, especially in CA then to get in such a raging fit over Suleman.

you all need to mind your own business. take a look at your own life. we have been paying for others babies for many years. if you want to complain about something, how about the trillions we are paying so the big wheels can live their in their big million dollar homes and etc: so get real and let god handle it. he does anyway. dottie

this world is here to multiply anyway, why not sullamans, if not it is going to be someones, so be happy, stop worring over something you can do nothing about, if those who can help, step in and do so the situation will be on the next table, go on with life, and watch out for each other, besides, we ARE EACH OTHERS KEEPER……
