A Michigan hockey mom has been charged with embezzling nearly $1 million from the local youth hockey organization.

sad hockey team kids

Hockey mom Kimberly Knight volunteered to balance the bank books for the local Ann Arbor, Michigan Amateur Hockey Association ... and allegedly helped herself to nearly $1 million of their money!

In this economy, you would think she may have taken the cash to take care of her family and maybe even keep her house from going into foreclosure, but no. She bought a Cadillac Escalade, a dump truck (no, we're not kidding), paid for a couple of family vacations, and bought a pair of $3,890 diamond earrings, a $2,800 bracelet, a $3,500 watch and spent another $5,300 for 33 Pandora beads!

She allegedly set up accounts all over town to transfer the funds into her name, cashing checks ranging from $1,000 to $17,000.

Matt Dejanovich, a team sponsor whose son plays in the organization, says, "It's a sickening situation when money that is supposed to go to the kids is spent on personal needs."

Knight is free on bond and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing March 5.

That is so sad. I can’t believe that people would actually steal from kids. My son is in the cub scouts and in the fall they do popcorn sales. Well, this year they sat out in front of the walmart around our town and set up tables. They sold popcorn and got LOTS of donations. Well, this one father was in charge of the whole thing and all the money went to him. Well, come time to deposit the money it wasn’t all there. Some other fathers had to foot the bill to pay the popcorn company and all the dontaion money was just gone. That donation money was to help pay for camps and activities and those boys worked hard. My 6 1/2 year old sat out there 3 weekends and got lots of donations. So sad!!
