Amazingly enough in this strapped-for-cash economy, every state in our nation is holding on to so much unclaimed property they have kicked up efforts to find the rightful owners.
Whether it's forgotten safety deposit boxes, unredeemed money orders and travelers' checks, unclaimed insurance payouts or stocks you've unknowingly inherited from deceased distant relatives, you may be entitled to some unclaimed booty!

I tried this out of curiosity about 2 years ago, and found out I had a check for $80 waiting for me. It was a stray child support check that must’ve gotten lost in the mail somehow. What a nice surprise, especially considering my son’s father hardly ever sent support and was $30,000 behind! We went shopping for winter gear!!!
